Description

The Lyric Controller is Honeywell's premier security and automation control panel in the form of a 7.0 inch graphic touchscreen keypad. Similar to other alarm systems such as Honeywell's LYNX Touch series or 2GIG's Go!Control series, the Lyric Controller is a self-contained system that integrates everything it needs into the keypad. However it is the first wireless alarm system to offer fully encrypted (128-bit AES) wireless technology between peripheral sensors. Currently, the only compatible sensors that support the encryption technology are Honeywell's new SiX series sensors. They use 2.4 GHz signals to communicate bi-directional signals to and from the Lyric Controller. The controller is able to poll for live battery and RF signal levels from any enrolled SiX sensor. These accurate readings are available locally on they keypad and even remotely on Honeywell's updated AlarmNet 360 server.

Physically, the Lyric touchscreen looks very clean and is equipped with an integrated camera for snapshots based on customizable system operations. Yes, you can trigger a photo to be taken upon disarm! These can be uploaded to Total Connect and generate email/text alerts as well. Unlike its predecessors, the Lyric Controller now has built-in WIFI and Z-Wave modules. This means that the system is capable of connecting to your WIFI network and building a local Z-Wave mesh network, right out of the box! The only communication module that requires a separate purchase is a cellular communicator. Installing and activating a cellular communicator will allow the Lyric to remain connected during internet outages. Upgrading to cellular is optional, but it is strongly recommended for receiving the most reliable monitoring service.

For cellular connectivity, Lyric users can choose between the Honeywell LYRICLTE-A, which communicates across the AT&T LTE Network, and the Honeywell LYRICLTE-V, which uses Verizon LTE. Since these are LTE communicators, your Lyric will be able to use them well into the very distant future. The LTE cellular networks are faster and more reliable than their 3G predecessors, which makes them ideal for use with security systems. They are also going to be kept in service for a very long time, as cellular companies have promised to maintain support for these networks for many years to come. Honeywell even designed a brand-new way to install the cellular modules while the system is still powered, without opening up the panel. There is a new side compartment designed to cut local power when you initiate the cellular install in panel programming. This makes it easier to add cellular communications after the system is already configured on WIFI.

The Lyric controller was named a "controller" since it is much more than a security panel. It is also a robust automation controller that supports up to 72 Z-Wave devices in the form of lights, locks and thermostats. For those looking to expand more into home or business automation this panel is exactly what you are looking for. There are customizable scenes, rules and schedules with triggers ranging from system operations like arming/disarming to zone faults. Another new feature that the Lyric offers on the automation side of things is the ability to integrate the Lyric Thermostat. This is the first time a WIFI thermostat can be integrated into automation scenes on a Honeywell alarm system. It is also the first WIFI thermostat to be available for remote access with the Total Connect 2.0 interactive app.

All in all, the Lyric Controller is designed for alarm owners who are looking to future-proof their alarm system and push to the very edge of alarm and automation technologies. This device is also flash-upgradeable so when new features are released your alarm company can push down the newest firmware. There are easy ways to integrate wired system infrastructures through the form of wired to wireless translators. In other words, just because you have an existing wired system that does not mean you should not upgrade to the Lyric. You can use the majority of your wired peripheral sensors (excluding life-safety devices) and simply connect them to a converter like the 5800C2W that will transmit them to the Lyric.

The Lyric comes with a transformer but no cabling included. Check out the LT-Cable for easy power cycling and installation. Hi Carlos. Production on new Lyrics was discontinued and it's still supported but we haven't been told about any upcoming features or functionality for it. Other than emergency patches, I doubt we would see any. Their new development seems to be focused on their new ProSeries panels which you could upgrade to with your existing sensors.
Any updates on new versions? Roadmap? New Functionality? Has Honeywell made any comments on how often they plan to release new features?

Ah, I understand those frustrations and agree enhancements to how that works would be a great benefit to Total Connect 2.0 users. I did check your user profile (Disqus doesn't share emails but I'm pretty certain I'm checking the right one based on your name and system) and I don't see any pre-sales interactions. Do you recall how you discussed a new Lyric system with us? Was it a phone call, email or chat? Any details you can provide would be helpful.
Thanks for the reply Sterling. 1. Yes, I can see the user who armed and disarmed the panel. That was my mistake. 2. The issue I have is with the door lock. Below is all that Total Connect shows me. The management of z-wave devices is a problem. Totalconnect has to get smarter managing z-wave or integrate with someone like Vera and let them manage the z-wave side. 4. The work around for temporary/one-time/time-restricted codes is unacceptable. If I have a cleaning service coming in every week I have to enable/disable their code every week? If I use the guest code will the guest user still be able to unlock the z-wave lock (even if they can't disarm the system)? I used to have a Nexia z-wave bridge that did a brilliant job handling that. Had I known the deficiency (which I specifically asked the expert before buying the system and your online demo does NOT go into detail about) I would have gone the route of a separate Alarm system and z-wave hub. I loved the idea of having the z-wave hub integrated to the alarm system so that I would not have to manage both separately and they could act integrated but currently there are too many deficiencies. 5. As for the multiple attempts every time I try to ARM or DISARM via the app I'll call support to debug. I doubt it is related to my Wifi since I have 1Gbs down, very little if anything on the network and the access point is 5 feet away from the panel but we will check. Again, thanks for the prompt reply and perhaps some of the improvements can be put onto the development plan for Totalconnect as I hope to see new versions coming soon.
We're sad to hear you aren't happy with your new Lyric system Carlos. What Alarm.com system did you have in the past? Here's my comments/thoughts/questions on your main complaints: "You can't see which user armed / disarmed the system (SERIOUSLY!)" - Total Connect 2.0 does log the user used to arm and disarm so perhaps you have something off in your Profile setup or your User Synchronization. We'd be happy to help you fix that. "You can't change the configuration of the system (sensor properties)" - None of the systems we offer (as well as none of the ADT or Alarm.com systems as far as I'm aware) allow for zone programming changes from the end user account. Those changes would need to be made locally at the panel or throuogh the dealer software (just ask and we can do it for you as needed). "There is very little information on any event." - Unless I'm confused or mistaken, Total Connect 2.0 events provide the same level of detail as Alarm.com events. Can you clarify what you mean by this? "You can't access nor change any property of a z-wave device. I have a very nice Schlage z-wave lock and I can't change any of it's settings like auto-lock, sound alerts, etc. Also cannot set time/day limited codes...see below." - The Lyric and TC2 do allow you to remotely add a user to Total Connect 2.0 that, when synced successfully, would create a new panel User and a matching user in the lock. The other settings like auto-lock and sound alerts would need to be set at the lock itself and again, as far as I know, that's the same for all our systems (and all Alarm.com systems). I do agree Alarm.com beats out Resideo/Total Connect 2.0 in allowing scheduled lock users for all Z-Wave locks connected to the Alarm.com account, even if the actual system doesn't allow for scheduled panel users. "Extremely limited automations that can be programmed. Ex. I CAN'T set temporary codes, one-time use codes or time-of day codes. This is basic functionality! You need to be able to set codes for house cleaning people on specific days and that cannot open the house at night for example. BASIC!" - Only some Alarm.com systems allow for scheduled panel users so this is not functionality all professional alarm systems offer although I do agree they all should. Luckily, you can manage users remotely with a Lyric and Total Connect 2.0 though so while you can't automate it, you could add/delete users when needed and you could set up alerts for arming and disarming events and then from there, set up automation in your email/phone to alert you should a particular user arm or disarm when they shouldn't have access. Also, the panel offers a "Guest" user (https://www.alarmgrid.com/videos/lyric-security-system-program-guest-code) which can be useful for these situations. If you have someone coming to the house that will need to disarm, and you don't want to give them one of your normal user codes, you would just set up the Guest code and provide that one to them and then be sure to arm the system with that code when you leave before they are arriving. The Guest code only disarms if the Guest code was used for that arming period. "connectivity is also very flaky. Sometimes it takes 4 or more attempts before the app will communicate with the panel and arm/disarm the system" - How often do you see it work on first attempt versus needing aa 2nd (or more) tries? Is this something you've troubleshot with us at all? We could try some things like disabling your WIFI path, and testing on cellular only, to see if the issue is related to your home WIFI connection.
I recently installed a Lyric alarm system and here is my initial review. I have had both an Alarm.com system as well as an ADT system. I was hoping for the same features as both and since this is the top of the line Honeywell system, I was hoping for even better. Spoiler, I am not very happy after putting a completely new Lyric system as well as a lot of SiX sensors. MAIN COMPLAINT: The Totalconnect 2.0 App / Web Interface is HORRIBLE! - You can't see which user armed / disarmed the system (SERIOUSLY!) - You can't change the configuration of the system (sensor properties) - There is very little information on any event. - You can't access nor change any property of a z-wave device. I have a very nice Schlage z-wave lock and I can't change any of it's settings like auto-lock, sound alerts, etc. Also cannot set time/day limited codes...see below. - Extremely limited automations that can be programmed. Ex. I CAN'T set temporary codes, one-time use codes or time-of day codes. This is basic functionality! You need to be able to set codes for house cleaning people on specific days and that cannot open the house at night for example. BASIC! - connectivity is also very flaky. Sometimes it takes 4 or more attempts before the app will communicate with the panel and arm/disarm the system As for the panel itself, adding sensors is actually fairly easy. Adding sensors with multiple functions (flood/cold or CO/Heat/Smoke) was easy but confusing since it does not display what zones were assigned to what and you can't see it in a nice web interface. All in all I am pretty disappointed and decided to get Google (Nest) thermostats and cameras since they seem to have more functions and a MUCH better web interface. Compared to the Alarm.com app functionality this system is MUCH worse. Compared to the ADT Pulse it is similar but the ADT app connects consistently and quickly to the panel to arm/disarm. I like the SiX sensors and the battery status BUT the Totalconnect 2.0 app doesn't show the battery status....Come on. Looking forward to having some Honeywell comments on this thread.

I'm not entirely sure I understand the question, but the Lyric panel has a built-in camera that can do two things. You can enable it to take a picture each time the system is disarmed at the panel, and you can have those pictures sent to you in a Notification. You can also log into TC2 and do a live look-in snapshot with that camera. This is done (and enabled/disabled) via Total Connect 2.0. The camera is only 2MP, and the panel doesn't have its own light source, so the pictures will vary depending on the amount of ambient light in the area where the panel is mounted. Hello Dave, I am sorry to say that the Arlo camera system is a proprietary system and is not compatible with most alarm systems we sell. (Smart functionality is also a huge feature for the Arlo Pro Camera. It can work with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, IFTTT and Stringify for easy access and control. The camera will also work with the Telguard Interactive App for users with security systems that connect with the Telguard platform. But users should be aware that the Arlo Pro will not work with the Total Connect 2.0 and Alarm.com services).

Hey Dave. The only cameras that the Lyric can display are the old Honeywell legacy cameras, like the IPCAM-PT from five years ago. It cannot display HD cameras like the ADC-VC826 because its resolution is too high.
How might I use an Alarm.com ADC-VC826 camera with the LCP500 ? When the camera is connected via Ethernet, will the LCP500 pick it up via the wifi connection? Thanks.
Hi Robert. No, you wouldn't be able to have 2 LCP500 panels in that configuration. What you could do is put one LCP500 in your Main Location and then wall mount an inexpensive Android tablet running the MyHome Controller App at your secondary location. Is it possible to have 2 LCP500 panels in one system, with one being master and the other in a remote mode? Was thinking of using one LCP500 on each floor (near walkout basement & garage access doors) of my home. I’m replacing a 2Gig system that had a main touchscreen panel and a secondary touch screen (2GIG-TS1) in those locations and I liked having the full screen & touch controls in both locations. I come & go via both doors often (dog walks often start & end at the walkout door). I didn’t like that my installer wouldn’t share the install code with me and the system was never going to support HomeKit.

That was the question I had as well.....so if setup for self monitoring, you can use the app with it and hopefully have basic functions like system status, arm/disarm and alerts/alarms sent to your mobile device via text and or mobile app? Subscription involved?

Ok - got it. I need Verizon since AT&T coverage is horrible where I live. However, you don’t seem to offer the Verizon LTE communication module. Why not? CDMA is going away so that’s not a viable choice. If I purchase the Verizon LTE module elsewhere will I still be able to utilize your monitoring service or are they AT&T only?
That would depend on how you purchase the panel. If purchased alone then yes the communicator is an item that you have purchase it separately. If the panel is purchased in a kit similar to ours the communicator is included.

The bypassing of zones can only be done thru Total Connect or locally at the panel. Homekit doesn't have that level functionally.
How can I bypass window sensors with Siri? I can arm and disarm with Siri if there are no open windows. It seems that if I want to leave a window open I have to use the TC app to bypass and then arm with Siri.
No, the entry delay option will always be enabled by default, and if you want to disable it, you will have to do so manually. Even after successfully arming with the Entry Delay turned off, the next time you go to arm in any mode it will again be enabled.
Is there a way to have a given arming mode automatically default to Entry Delay being off? I'd like to configure such that Arm Stay is always Entry Delay Off, and Arm Away is always Entry Delay On.

can you use it with and existent Safewatch 3000? I just wonder if all the Honeywell are compatible (door/window sensors, motion, glass breaks, flood detectors smokes and CO? I would love to upgrade my keypad and see if it can get power from the panel in the bsmt as a regular keypad
Z-wave plus device can be paired to the system, but it will not take advantage of the z-wave plus capabilities. The device will essentially act as a normal z-wave device.

Yes, these wireless devices communicate with a system at a frequency of 345MHz. This unique frequency helps prevent the signal of the devices from being interfered with and also from causing interference to other devices.
I understand. I was originally looking at the kit that did not say it was encrypted. That kit with the non-encrypted versa sensors has other safeguards to prevent hacking or spoofing, correct?
All of the Lyric systems are encrypted. If you are looking at a Kit and it does not say encrypted that means it comes with Versa sensor and not the encrypted SiX sensors.

The Lyric systems have encryptions already setup. The determining factor is the types of sensors your using. The 5800 are not encrypted (https://www.alarmgrid.com/browse/honeywell-5800-sensors) and the SiX sensors are encrypted (https://www.alarmgrid.com/browse/honeywell-six-sensors). Hi Tee, Unfortunately, there aren't any other camera settings on the Lyric that can help with the lighting. The only suggestion is increasing the lighting in the room.
The system can be installed by a DIYer and can be either setup under Central Station monitoring or Self monitoring.
Does this system require central station monitoring or can it be self-monitored? Can the system be installed by a competent DIYer?
We got new Lyrics at both of our houses and both of them are unreliable regarding use of the built-in camera to take snapshots with Disarm. I think we've gotten one or two decent captures out of them, but most are simply Black or at least so dark there is no recognizable face. I'd have thought that the light emitted from the panel would be enough to cause at least Recognition? Are there any camera settings anywhere other than to Enable the snap-on-Disarm feature?
The Lyric system does require to be defaulted when trying to re-activate it with a monitoring company, not just ours. This is an unfortunate "glitch" with the system that we have been trying to find a work around for. We are happy to assist with any remote programming we can do to make the process of programming the panel that much easier.
I was all set to move to you all for monitoring but then you told me it required me completely reset my panel and lose ALL my settings. Is this true? A total deal breaker for me if so??

Hi Randy, The default installer code is 4112. It seems there's no "back door" programming method like on a LYNX Touch but there may be a way for Honeywell to do it remotely if the panel is active with a communicator.
My customer took his Lyric Controller with him when he moved. Most likely, there's an installer password that will prevent him or us from gaining access to the device. Is there a way to default this back to factory defaults or get past the password issue? What is the factory default password? We haven't located a manual yet---probably on-line.

So, if the panel is somehow taken offline during the entry delay, the central station will still receive a report and respond? I've had Lyric in the past, and am now looking for a system for my new home, and realized this is a purchase consideration with these all-in-one panel/systems.
It does have Honeywells version which is called APL - Advanced Protection Logic. Total Connect 2.0 has no effect on this feature as we offer that on Self and Full Monitored accounts. The feature can be used when the system is being monitored by a central station.
Does the Lyric Controller offer "Crash and Smash" protection when used with TotalConnect 2.0?
Yea, I ended up using Gmail labels to trigger the event. Here's a step-by-step in case it helps someone else: 1. Create a new Gmail account that will be used for IFTTT integration only 2. Set up an IFTTT account and link it to that Gmail account as well as your Arlo system 3. Go into TC2 and set up an account (either an existing or a new "fake" account) that uses the IFTTT gmail address for notifications. 4. Set up a notification rule in TC2 that will send an email for both the "arm" and "disarm" events to the IFTTT Gmail address 5. Review those emails to see who they come from and what the subject is (in my case sender = AlarmGrid@alarmnet.com and Subject = "Armed Away" or "Disarmed") 6. Go into the IFTTT gmail account and set up two filter rules to label incoming emails using the sample emails in #5. Set up one label called "Armed" and one called "Disarmed" 7. Now go into IFTTT and build a recipe starting with the Gmail service you linked in step #2. As the trigger, look for the label "Armed" 8. As the action, use the Arlo service and the action "Arm" 9. Repeat steps 7 & 8 for "Disarmed" 10. Save the recipe and activate it (you can toggle the IFTTT notification on if you're building the recipe from a mobile device
Do you want the Arlo cameras to be armed in conjunction with the panel arming? If so, does it not send the same basic message each time the system is armed, and could you not key off that with your hashtag? If not, then what about the subject, the subject for arming will be unique to arming, could you not use that? What about setting up the notifications to come to your email (which you can validate) then have your email forward them to IFTTT to trigger the event?
I'm finally getting around to this since I just set up an Arlo camera system (after giving up on the Lyric cameras, unfortunately). I want to be able to arm/disarm the cameras via IFTTT. In poking around in TC2, I'm confused as to how to get an email generated to trigger the IFTTT event, since TC2 will only send emails to users that are set up as Standard Users, as near as I can tell. This means that I would need to set up an account for IFTTT (doesn't feel like a good idea). Furthermore, there is no way to "validate" that email address in TC2, since it won't go to me. Since I can't customize the body of the email notification that TC2 generates, I can't specify a hashtag in body in the IFTTT trigger, so I have to use a "generic" trigger to arm the Arlo such as: "If Send trigger@applet.ifttt.com any email from [TC2 notification sender], then Arm Arlo" The problem I see with this is that ANY (EVERY) email received from the TC2 sending address will arm my cameras, along with anyone else that has used this same recipe. This approach seems to be a dead end. The other approach seems to create a "phantom" standard user on the Lyric panel, along with a new gmail account just for the purposes of monitoring for alarm emails. Then I connect that account to IFTTT and build a custom applet that monitors that inbox for emails from "AlarmGrid@alarmnet.com" with the subject "Armed Away" or "Disarmed". Any better suggestions?

I can not recommend buying. Honeywell has effectively abandoned this alarm system. There are known bugs and user requests that Honeywell has known about for over half a year at this point. There has been no resolution and software update. I wish I had gone another direction.
The Lyric system does not have an ethernet port so wifi is the only way to connect this to your network.
Can Lyric connect to the Internet via Ethernet cable instead of Wifi?
There's nothing in programming or setup that could cause a sensor fault to be delayed at the panel. Also, whether it's a wired sensor activating a C2W zone or a SiX wireless device, either way, the Lyric is acting based on an RF signal received at the panel. It's possible there's some type of RF interference in your home that's somehow delaying certain sensor actions but as far as I know, or have ever seen or heard about, if a sensor fault is "missed" by the panel due to RF issues, it wouldn't all of a sudden fault/chime a second, or 3, later. If you are able to continue to test the zone faults when disarmed and catch the delay on video that would be our best chance to show it to Honeywell for them to see if it's something that warrants a new system or if something else is going on.
Hello. Each time i go to try and get a video it seems to work ok. Its random and not every single time we trip a sensor. I tested the alarm and it was triggered immediately so thats a relief. Im wondering if the random chime delay has anything to do with homekit? I thought it was something with the 5800C2W but the same happens with my sixmini sensors. I'm not sure whats causing these random delays.
I haven't seen any video from you yet. Have you been able to capture one? Also, have you ever tried testing a real alarm to see if there's a delay from when a zone set for Perimeter is opened to when the system alarm goes off? Make sure you'll fully armed before opening the Perimeter zone for an accurate test. If you're able to see a delay upon alarm activation, please send us a video of that as well as I'm sure Honeywell would be interested in investigating that happening.
The Lyric can be compatible with Z-Wave plus devices, but as the Lyric Controller has a 300 version Z-Wave chipset, you won't benefit from any of the features of the Z-Wave plus devices. They will all function like regular Z-Wave devices instead of Z-Wave plus devices.
Can I use z-wave plus with the LCP-500?
Hello. Since we've last chatted I've left the screen on with no timeout. While the chiming doesn't stutter as much, this delay from the sensor fault is still present. Do you know if an updated firmware is in honeywells pipeline? Also does this chime delay have a delay on when the monitoring company gets notified? I'll see if I can make a video showing this tonight.
We've already discussed with you how when you have the panel's Backlight Timeout enabled (which you had indicated you did have enabled), the panel has a known issue that causes the chime to stutter or be delayed as the panel "wakes up" from the backlight timeout mode based on the zone chiming. At one point you indicated you had seen it stutter like that on a chime with the Backlight Timeout mode disabled and we had asked you for a video of that happening as we've never seen that before. Are you able to record a short video of that happening (assuming it is) and send that to support@alarmgrid.com? If it actually does work when Backlight Timeout is off, then you can be sure that your issue is not a concern as it's just a matter of the panel chime being interrupted by the screen waking up.
Anyone else having an issue with sensors being delayed with their chime? Since this was installed in December I've always had a 2-3 second delay from when a sensor is faulted and the lyric chimes. It's annoying and a little concerning as well. I have a 5800C2W and this happens on those sensors along with my mini six sensors. Does this mean the alarm won't trigger for these 2-3 seconds? While I do not have service with alrmgrid( I did purchase my equipment through you) my current provider did not see anything wrong with my setup/configuration.
The Lyric comes with a standard 4hr back up battery. You can always purchase the LCP500-24B separately if you want a back up battery that will last longer.
Does the Lyric panel come with the backup battery or do I need to buy LCP500-24B.
I have a combination of SiX sensors and 5800 series sensors. They all show up in the Home (HomeKit) app as individual icons and their status is displayed in the Home app (closed, open, etc.). I don't have a 5800C2W so I can't tell you how that would interface with HomeKit. The lyric controller has its own icon in the Home app as well and displays status such as Off, Home, Away. I also have a HomePod and can arm the system using Siri. You can't disarm with Siri from HomePod as it requires a pin or fingerprint to disarm on an iPhone or iPad.
Homekit is very vague in how it shows the system and it's alarms. From what we've seen, Homekit mainly just shows the Lyric and will only mention they Lyric during an alarm.
Do sensors connected to a 5800C2W show up as individual items in HomeKit when using the Lyric Controller?

We haven't heard anything recently about a Z-Wave Plus version Lyric on the horizon. We were just out at ISC West and saw some new Honeywell platforms being developed though that offer Z-Wave Plus - https://www.alarmgrid.com/blog/isc-west-2018-diy-security-review. The Lyric does have the option to work as a secondary controller and we have had people set it up well with other 3rd party automation systems. It all depends on what you're looking for in terms of reliability though as there are certain quirks to primary/secondary Z-Wave setups. Do you have any system now? If not, I'd suggest emailing support@alarmgrid.com with your main "wants and needs" out of a system for both security and automation and then we can suggest the best option.
Any update on Honeywell's plans with Lyric? I am really interested in a controller which support Z-Wave Plus. Also is Lyric able to function as a secondary Z-Wave controller? Are there any alternatives which provide strong Z-Wave support?
The Lyric Controller does have a built in 85dB sounder. The Lyric does not have a built in glass break detector you have to get that separately.
Does the controller itself have any sensor features. For example does the controller emit a siren and if so what is it's noise level. Does the controller have a glass break detection feature. I know there are specific sensors for this, but I was wondering if the controller itself had this, I know it has video.
We haven't heard of any V2 Lyric systems coming but Honeywell is not always as communicative with us about new system as we'd like. We will have a team out at ISC West next week which is the biggest security trade show and we should know a lot more about upcoming systems after that trip. I tend to think its more work than it's worth but if you want to wire a couple contacts to the panel I would recommend the 945T: https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-945t for a surface mount solution and the 944T: https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-944t for recessed option. There are no loops on zones 1 and 2 since they are allocated specifically for wired door/window contacts. The sensors do not come with cable. If you do not have cable run to the door locations (a bit confused about how your power cable would come into play here) you will need to run 18/2 (18AWG, 2 conductor) cable to the doors. Figured it would be cost effective to utilize the 2 wires zones the Lyric panel offers. From what I've read, I just need a "Type A" wired sensor? If so, what do you recommend I get (just need basic sensor for the 2 doors, no loop, etc..)? Would I need to purchase cable as well (guessing the sensors don't come with any). Hi Momo! Sorry for confusion and thanks for pointing out that mistake on our product description. We have updated the language as to avoid this confusion again. The only LTE module is the AT&T version at this time. There should be a Verizon version in the future but we do not have any exact time on that. If the AT&T network is marginal in your area you can setup the Lyric-CDMA: https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-lyric-cdma. Although we have discontinued on our site we can still sell them. We removed them because they must activated by June 2018 or they will not work. Honeywell set a cutoff date for newly registered CDMA radios since Verizon announced the CDMA sunset in 2022. If you think the AT&T LTE will be OK I would recommend that over the CDMA or 3G units. It will last much longer and offer faster transmission speeds assuming it can acquire a cell signal. Hi, within your product page for the Lyric controller, you state " If you have Verizon LTE coverage in your area, the LYRICLTE-A works on Verizon's newer faster LTE network.". Yet if you select the link given, it sends you to the AT&T LTE radio. I was wanting to purchase a Verizon LTE communicator, since Verizon's LTE signal at my house is excellent. Is this available for purchase? Seems like your product page needs to be corrected, regardless.
I have the Lyric Controller and also have a Skybell. The Skybell is not seen by my Apple Home App at all.
Unfortunately, only US carriers at this moment. You could always use the built-in wifi module to connect to WI-Fi and be able to use all of the features the Honeywell Lyric has to offer.

The 5821 combined with the 470PB will work as a flood detector with the Lyric. When you connect these to the Lyric they can still send the alert to your Total Connect application. Another plus is the fact that you can set up a scene on the Lyric to shut off a water valve if the flood detector is tripped.
I purchased a Lyric Security system from AlarmGrid and was wondering if you can share which water leak sensors are compatible with the Controller? What would be an advantage of linking these to the Lyric Controller vs those detectors that send alerts directly to a phone? Can the system trigger a remote water valve to shut off automatically if a water leak is detected?
1. Yes, the Lyric supports the Kwikset Z-Wave locks. 2. No, unfortunately the Homekit integration only allows control of other Homekit automation devices and Z-Wave devices would still need to be managed through the panel and/or Total Connect 2.0 service which requires some level of monthly fee.
I have a first generation 2GIG GoControl system in my home and I use a "Kwikset 910 Z-Wave SmartCode Electronic Touchpad Deadbolt". Some questions: 1. Will the Lyric Controller (along with TC2) manage this Z-Wave Deadbolt/Lock? 2. Will my Apple HomeKit Home app "see" this Z-Wave Deadbolt/Lock once the Lyric controller is added as an accessory to HomeKit? Obviously Z-Wave is not HomeKit compatible but I am wondering if Z-Wave devices that are managed by the Lyric Controller can "then" be managed by HomeKit? 3. If the answer to question 2 is "yes", can I ask Siri to lock and unlock this z-wave deadbolt? Thanks!
Yes, any 5800 device that doesn't use the House ID feature is compatible with the Lyric. The Lyric ships with a 4 hour backup battery in the unit. I have an old honeywell panel with 5800 series pir and window sensors. Can i change the control panel for this lyric, and will it be compatible with my sensors?? I cant find the backup battery for the lyric controller. As I understand I only need the lyric controler, the sixsiren, my 5800 wireless sensors, and thats it??
I doubt that the Lyric will directly integrate with IFTTT. The Lyric Controller is defined as a professional, UL Listed security panel which limits the ability to directly connect to open-source, third-party setups like IFTTT. You can already use IFTTT indirectly by using email notifications from TC2 as triggers for other supported automation devices.
Will the lyric controller get IFTTT? Looks like honeywells newest alarm "smart home security system" will have IFTTT. Would be nice if we could get that. Right now I can have my Garage door close at midnight through lyric just in case I leave them open on accident and go to bed. A push notification like through IFTTT would be a nice option and then I could just close use Total Connect to close it. Even better if I could have both and have the IFTTT send the message. Then if I dont manually shut it still have the command to close at my set time. I could set the IFTTT say at midnight and the auto close at 12:10. I have the 5877 GDPK relay for control and I am using a 958 overhead door contact paired to a 5816 as the transmitter for open/close. It works slick. I like that fact that my garage doors now can be monitored.
There are ways of "associating' the 3-way switch with the master switch with certain controllers. The Lyric Controller does not really do that at this point. If you have a traveler wire you can just leave the old "dumb" non-z-wave 3-way switch installed OR you can setup a secondary controller like a Smartthings Hub which is capable of making these associations.
Sorry to hear that, we've had a god amount of customers give us negative feedback on the schlage locks. Possible the issue could be with the lock, we usually recommend yale or kwikset.
Hopefully someone here can help me figure this one out. I have started adding home automation to my Lyric panel - simple things like garage door, lights, thermostat, etc... Everything was going great until I added a light switch that had an 'add on' switch (the original circuit was a three way for the foyer light'. The main switch, the add on switch, and the panel can control the light just fine. If I use the panel to control the light, the panel reports light status correctly. if I use the main switch to control the light, the panel also reports status correctly. If I use the add on switch, the panel didn't get the memo. I believe that the add on switch doesn't push out an update to the panel like the main switch does. I am told that I can overcome this by having the panel 'poll' this switch on a periodic basis. Here is my problem. Using the panel front panel, I can't find any way to explain to the panel that I want it to poll this switch. Does anyone know how to explain to the panel to do this? This system looks really cool. It’s still so uncommon to find encrypted systems on the market. Armorax has a touchscreen and a non-touchscreen version of an encrypted security system and it is so reasonably priced!
FYI. In order to manage inclusion/exclusion as secondary controller it must be triggered from software running on pc (after plugging it into pc via usb). I used zensys zwave controller. The button on the stick itself is good for including client devices only.

Honeywell recently mentioned a December release of the Lyric panel firmware that would finally unlock the Homekit integration capability and the Apple page updating is a positive sign that it may finally be around the corner. There is no new firmware available yet on AlarmNet to push to a Lyric to unlock the Homekit today though and once we know more, we'll be blogging about it right away.
We heard from Honeywell that it was coming in December and the fact that the Apple page updated is certainly an encouraging sign that they may actually hit that expected timeline this time. We will be blogging about it as soon as we know more.
Apple's website says the Lyric controller is now live with Homekit (or at least it's no longer just listed as "Announced". Is this, indeed, live?
Which Apple page are you seeing that? I'm not seeing the Lyric at https://www.apple.com/us/shop/accessories/all-accessories/homekit?page=1#! but we are still hopeful it's coming. Last we heard was it may be out in December but as they've continually missed the expected release timelines so far, we aren't sure when it will really be out.
In exciting news... Apple's Homekit compatible device page now shows Honeywell controller as a functioning device. It no longer reads "announced" or "coming soon"- small glimmer of hope. Pathetic I keep checking for this- but it is the last piece of the puzzle for total home automation in my residence...
It is annoying, but Honeywell has a pretty good track record for making their new devices continue to work with the old products and vise versa. That being said, I'm not sure what's going to happen with the bi-directional 5800 series stuff...if it will ever be supported on the Lyric. FortrezZ actually makes a Form C relay that I've verified (by calling FortrezZ, not by testing it myself) will work with the Lyric, so if you're looking to do something with a dry contact closure, that should work. It's called the MIMOLite. It'll do some things that are not supported on the Lyric (I'm not sure what all they are) but if you just want a dry relay to change state based on an event on the panel, that should work.

One of the things that is turning me off about the Lyric is, even if they release a SIX relay tomorrow and I buy it, it might not work with the next generation. One of the nice things about Z-Wave is vendor independence and Lyric ain't that. Thanks for your response.

I've never DIY an alarm system before so I'm just trying to see what I've got. And indeed most of it is no longer useful. But I saw that box and thought, "what the heck is that???". LOL.
You mentioned this on another page of ours. I agree with you completely. However the reason behind this is that Honeywell dropped "House ID" technology which was required to pair the relay to the older style panels. My hope is that they come out with a SiX series encrypted relay that works with the Lyric in a more secure fashion. I imagine that this is just matter of time before some type of relay is supported by the Lyric Controller but I cannot say for sure.
This is a Honeywell communicator for a wired VISTA alarm system. This will not be compatible with the Lyric. The Lyric comes equipped with an internet communicator integrated inside the panel that allows you to transmit signals to the server via WIFI. I kind of want a Lyric because it does have a lot of good features. But, its incompatibility with even relatively recent Honeywell wireless devices is annoying. Honeywell has their 5800RL relay module, which works with Lynx but not Lyric. What are they thinking??? Update their stinking firmware on the Lyric and make it work with, oh, you know, HONEYWELL products??? At least!
Place the lyric panel in exclusion mode by going into the Automation Tools. Then press the ID function on your Aeotec device just like you did when including it. The panel should see it and remove it. Then back out of exclusion mode to the home screen.
I'm looking to remove an aeotec z-stick as a secondary controller from my lyric security panel. What is the process to do this?
I am not sure I understand your question. Honeywell informed us that this new generation lock is not supported by the Lyric or TC2 yet. You may be able to include it but it will not work properly. Yale and Kwikset Z-Wave locks and the standard August WIFI lock (with August Connect hub on iOS devices only) will work if you are looking for a solution now.
Damn, I was looking forward to lock the door with the keyfob! I can't see the TC2 cloud integration, are you sure they did not remove it?
Unfortunately, at least at this time, the Z-Wave portion of the August lock is not compatibly with the Honeywell systems that support Z-Wave locks. You can still only use that lock with the TC2 cloud integration using the WIFI August hub. If and when Honeywell has updated their systems to support the Z-Wave portion of the new August locks, we'll certainly let you know.
I am having some problems with the August Smart Lock Pro 3rd Generation. It is Zwave enabled but when I add it to the Lyric controller, I get a message on the controller "some locks still not ready". The lock shows up in the list of automation devices, I can try to lock/unlock in the app but it does not do anything. However it tracks correctly the lock and unlock in the events list. Any suggestion?
To my knowledge the wireless self contained panel are locked down to this type of third party automation integration. Honeywell says this is for security purposes. I have seen customers use TC2 email alerts to trigger automated rules using IFTTT but that is the only approach I have seen to be successful.
Anyone have experience integrating a Lyric or TC2 into an automation app, such as Open HAB or Home Assistant? I know a 20p with Envisalink or AlarmDecoder can work well, but can't find anything on binding the save between Lyric (or Lynx for that matter) with the open home automation software available. Thinking even if on returning status via TC2 might be a good start.

Is it known yet if the Homekit integration will allow you to control other homekit connected devices from the Lyric Controller? I'd like to be able to control my lights, shades and locks directly from my controller. Non of which are z-wave.

We are disappointed that the Homekit integration that was supposed to be out Q1 of 2017 is still not out as well. Unfortunately, Honeywell continues to say the hold up is on Apple's end but that they still expect it to be out at some point in the future. We are continually asking for updates and as soon as we know more, we will certainly be posting about it and as Honeywell still has the integration running on their own internal test panels, we are hopeful that it will be out at some point. This has happened 2 times in the past 2 months. I will keep an eye on it and if it happens again that would be fine to send a replacement. Should I just call in if and when it does happen for the warranty?
How many times did it happen? We can either send you out a new panel as a warranty replacement now or if it seems to be an issue that's no longer occurring, we have noted your account that it's happened and can do the warranty replacement if it starts happening again in the future.
Backlight timeout is not enabled and touching panic or home button do not change the state if white screen...Its been about a week so far since the last time it happened.
Well we certainly haven't had any other units displaying those symptoms so I doubt it was related to the update as we are always pushing the latest updates to our Lyric customers and I assume we would have heard from others with these symptoms if it was a firmware issue. When you say it "acknowledges where you touch" does that mean you hear a beep but the display doesn't change from the all white screen? When it's in this state, do the panic or home buttons below the touchscreen change the display at all? Finally, do you have the Backlight Timeout option enabled or disabled?
My own 2 wire cable (wire is about 4 ft from keypad) , but this has only happened since the update. I can touch the blank white screen and it acknowledges wherever i touch but just no display. I power off and remove battery and it works again for a week or 2.....
Can you detail your power connections to the Lyric? Are you powering the system using the LT-CABLE or your own 2-wire cable? If you aren't using the LT-CABLE, how far is the wire run between the system and the transformer?
Hmm that is not firmware related to my knowledge. Are you using a static IP for the Lyric on your home WIFI network?
I have had my Lyric Controller for six months now and it appears after the last update about month ago it will switch to a white blank screen. Not sure if this is due to update or an issue with the controller? I have to unplug battery and power supply to restart and then it comes back to proper screen, any suggestions???
Unfortunately, the Lyric doesn't have a one touch "Arm Stay Instant" button but they do spell out the Arm Custom option to get armed to that state in the user guide so that is the recommended way to arm to that mode from the panel. Also, as you found, you can do it from the TC2 virtual keypad. We're hoping they bring that functionality to TC2 on the main Security page without having to dive into the virtual keypad.
Is there a way to set "Arm Stay Instant" on the Lync Panel? I have found two "work arounds" for the time being... 1.) Using the Total Connect 2.0 Application I can access the Keypad [UserCode]+7 2.) Using the panel set Arm Custom Instant with Bypass (for the interior motion sensors)
Yes we are anxiously awaiting this release as well. Now that the Total Connect 2.0 app and web upgrades are behind us we are hoping that Honeywell will be focusing efforts on the Home Kit integration.

The GC3 panel has an integrated Z-Wave module but if you want cellular Alarm.com monitoring service, you'll need a cellular alarm communicator in addition to the system and the wireless sensors. There are different versions available depending on the local cellular network you'd need in your area and you can see the options online at https://www.alarmgrid.com/browse/cellular-alarm-communicators/brands/2gig. The LTEV-A-GC3 is a Verizon LTE option, the CDMAV-A-GC3 is a CDMA Verizon option, and the 3GA-A-GC3 is a 3G AT&T option.

The Z-Wave siren would be compatible with the 2Gig GC3 panel but just like all the systems we sell, you can't integrate any Z-Wave security sensors with the system. You would need to use Honeywell 5800 Series (https://www.alarmgrid.com/browse/honeywell-5800-sensors ) sensors or 2Gig sensors (https://www.alarmgrid.com/browse/2gig-345mhz-sensors ).
The Lyric system will eventually integrate with the T6 thermostats and if you don't care about integrating your Z-Wave devices into your alarm system, the Lyric system is a great choice in your case.

The sensors we include in the kits are Honeywell RF sensors that do work with the Lyric. They are not Z-Wave and while the SiX Series sensors work on the 2.4GHz frequency they don't work through your home's WIFI network. They communicate directly with the system's wireless receiver. You can certainly add sensors to the kits, now or later. The Lyric does support WIFI, cellular and Z-Wave as does the 2Gig GC3 (https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/2gig-gc3-345 ). Did you plan to integrate with a 3rd party Z-Wave controller? If so, the GC3 may be a better option. No cameras come with the system, but we do offer IP cameras that are supported by both systems. The Honeywell cameras at https://www.alarmgrid.com/browse/security-cameras/brands/honeywell work with the Lyric and the Total Connect 2.0 service that you can use to control your Lyric once you are signed up for a no-contract plan (https://www.alarmgrid.com/monitoring ). The Alarm.com cameras at https://www.alarmgrid.com/browse/security-cameras/brands/adc aren't viewable from the GC3 but with an Alarm.com account (requires a service plan like TC2), you'd be able to view them remotely. We have wireless security system kits that include the Lyric security system online at https://www.alarmgrid.com/browse/wireless-security-systems and any that include a cellular module will be "dual path". As for the GoControl panel, were those 2Gig RF sensors or were they Z-Wave devices? The Lyric can work with 2Gig security sensors but it can't accept inputs from Z-Wave sensors and it doesn't work with that Z-Wave strobe either. It only works to control Z-Wave lights, locks and thermostats.

Honeywell sent notice of a firmware update to the C1 camera this week, so maybe this hints at HomeKit and Lyric integration soon.
We agree the new app has improved and hope the same about HomeKit. No real updates at this time unfortunately.
I'd say it is somewhere in between. Generally speaking Honeywell security systems do not support z-wave sensors like burglary or life safety devices (i.e. motion detectors, door/window contacts and smoke detectors). When it comes to control devices like lights, locks and thermostats we can certainly verify compatibility in advance of purchase for you. Generally I recommend GE, Leviton or Linear for lighting. Yale or Kwikset for locks. Honeywell zwstat for thermostats. The Lyric also supports the round lyric wifi thermostat and should eventually support the new T5 and T6 Honeywell wifi thermostats.
Love the new app. Much faster. Hopefully this means HomeKit isn't too far behind.
Definitely more sleek. Not really, they just replaced it with "Arm Custom". When you arm custom, you get to choose which zones are bypassed, then arm either with Entry Delay, or without.
It is certainly confusing. Technically there is a state in the panel for "stay instant" but there is not button press locally to trigger that state. Two ways to skin the cat in a sense. We do find it odd that Honeywell did it this way. Especially since the delay/instant was a useful toggle icon for away and stay on the Lynx Touch series panels.
I don't actually have a problem with it to be honest. I just found it weird that when I set it via the panel it said "Armed Custom" when i set via TC2 the alarm panel said "Stay-Instant". If "Stay-Instant" is not a state in the panel I would've expected to either receive an error or for it to say "Arm Custom"
The instant stay on TC2 virtual keypad is legacy from wired VISTA panels. They kept it on there since it adds the ability to do instant stay arming remotely. Locally they dropped the delay/instant toggle selection when arming regular stay and away modes. Now you have to do it through the custom arming. I do not know why they dropped it to arm custom but its just an extra button press to accomplish the same thing.
Will any Z-wave device work with the Lyric - or is it trial-and-error regarding compatibility?

So i'm confused a little bit here. If the only way to accomplish instant arming is to arm custom why am I able to set it to Stay-Instant through total connect? Does that Stay-Instant that is set via total connect not a true "Instant"?

The Lyric does not integrate with any third party cameras including the Netgear Arlo. Currently the IPCAM-WO ( https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-ipcam-wo ) is the only outdoor cam that is supported. It is not HD and will be replaced by a newer HD model later this year. The project model will be the OC1.
Sterling posted the only way to locally accomplish "instant" arming. Use the arm custom feature and select all the zones you want enabled. Then toggle the "entry delay" icon on the bottom left. Keep in mind, if you enable motion detectors and do not exit the space during the exit delay the "auto-stay arming" feature will kick in and automatically arm stay. This will remove any motions from being protected and re-enable the entry delay. Basically, the arm custom mode with entry delay disabled is instant arming. The only thing that differentiates away from stay is motion detectors. By choosing to include motions it will be away-instant (aka Max or Maximum) and excluding motions it is stay-instant (aka instant).

Technically Honeywell specifies the following maximum wire length based on the gauge of the wiring: 22 gauge is limited to 10' and 18 gauge is limited to 22'.

I have been using the system for a while now and I had accepted there was no stay instant option but when I used total connect keypad last night to arm my system. I entered my code and selected instant and the panel said stay-instant instead of arm custom. Is there a way to enable this option on the panel? I looked through all the manuals and can't seem to find that as an option but it must be in there since I used it.
I had a question regarding the power run. If I have an existing low voltage wire that is used to power my DSC 832 panel, can i re-use that wire for a Lyric controller or the additional keypad if the total length is less than 22'? I understand I still have to use the transformer that ships with the Lyric. In one spot, I don't have an outlet where I want to place a keypad, just the existing wire.

Well, yes, it was the first thing I tried. But as I have no Z-Wave devices, it didn't allow me to do anything that I wanted. I could see the Panel in SmartThings, but I believe it just appeared as a Z-wave hub. I started over with a factory reset of my SmartThings Hub for another account related reason, and have not tried to learn it in again. I went a totally different direction with the SmartThings TotalConnect 2.0 integration via software. Right now, I can arm/disarm, but working on getting the sensors so that I can do the automation I would like to do.
So you included the Lyric and it is working as a virtual primary of sorts? Are you able to included devices into the Lyric and have them show up on the Smartthings hub? Happy to hear that you got it working! Thanks for updating us.
Well, the Lyric is setup on TC2... I tried to learn the SmartThings Hub as described here using the Learn Command: https://www.alarmgrid.com/faq/does-the-honeywell-lyric-controller-support-the-samsung-smartthi I could see the SmartThings Hub on the Lyric panel as a secondary controller, however, I couldn't do anything after that. I don't have any Z-wave devices at all. None of the SmartThings devices (including a simulated switch, Hue bulbs, etc) populated on the Lyric. So, I moved on to your suggestion from the phone support call to try the SmartThings integration that they are doing on the software side with Total Connect 2.0 I got that up and running for arm/disarm, but haven't toyed with the sensors yet.
Did you tie in the Lyric with TC2 when it was a Primary controller and then use the Secondary controller feature to then shift it to SmartThings?
UPDATE: I am happy to report that the TotalConnect 2.0 integration with SmartThings allows me to create rules and control my Lyric with SmartThings AND HomeKit (via a Homebridge plugin.) It's not as streamlined as a true HomeKit solution, but for now, it works! Also, they full sensor list isn't available through SmartThings at this time, due to a code re-write, but I will either wait a short time for them to re-integrate that or possible use some of the old code that might still work, but will require a bit more to setup.

I really like the Honeywell Lyric hardware, and thanks to your awesome tech support, I now know that there is a new non-flash based Total Connect 2.0 website, and have decided that even if I can't get the 100% integration into my existing home tech, I can always buy some z-wave devices as purely security based automation.
If the devices you are hoping to control are not truly Z-Wave devices, and only HomeKit enabled), you won't be able to setup the scene you were hoping as there will be no way for the Lyric to pass it's security system events to the ST. The only option, outside of waiting for the HomeKit compatibility would be to check out the SmartThings forum where people have found ways to "hack" the code of TC2 so that a TC2 alert can become a trigger for the ST. This should meet your needs if you can figure out that programming on the ST side.
Hi, I got a new Lyric system and know that HomeKit compatibility hasn't been released yet, but was assuming that it would integrate into my home which all of my automation is HomeKit enabled. Right now, I cannot do any automation with the Lyric because I don't have z-wave devices. I would really like integration so that, for example, when I open my back door the Hue lights come on. Since we don't know exactly what the HomeKit integration will be, is there ANY way that I can use a z-wave bridge and/or Smartthings to do this?

We are still in beta with the C1 for its Total Connect setup. I have not had any of these issues with the TC2 beta app. This must be an issue with the Lyric app.
@Craig Deshler - I just hooked up a C1 camera and I'm having the same issues. Constant motion and sound alerts and the geofencing doesn't function at all. (Camera is always active). Lyric camera app is also quite poorly designed (could be vastly simplified). Looks like this is going to be thrown into the junk bin until Honeywell gets this into a more mature state.
FYI, both the C1and C2 cameras are available on Home Depot's website. C1 shows in stock at my local store too! I'll have to stop in tonight.
Do you know if the Vivint panel has a touchscreen almost covering the full front of the unit (indicating a newer Sky panel) or a touchscreen just in the top right portion of the panel (indicating an older GoControl version panel)? If it was the older panel, your sensors would work with a Lyric. If it was the newer Sky panel, the sensors MAY work with the Lyric and they may not. I would recommend sending pictures of the sensors (with the covers removed) to support@alarmgrid.com if you did have the newer Sky panel and we can confirm for you if they will work or not.
The house we bought has a Vivant system in it and i removed the panel. Anyone know if the sensors are compatible if i buy this Lyric controller
You can use a Lyric for local home automation control without any monthly service plan required. However, if you want to control the Lyric system with the ability to control the included Z-Wave devices remotely from Total Connect 2.0, you would need at least our Self Silver plan which is $15/month at https://www.alarmgrid.com/monitoring. That plan would be using the panel's built-in WIFI module and if you wanted that TC2 system/Z-Wave control to work when the internet is offline or unavailable, you'd need a cellular module installed in the Lyric and our Self Gold plan for $25/month.
Yes, Honeywell hasn't had much information about why it's been delayed so long. Last we heard, they were waiting on Apple and they expected it to possibly be out by end of July.
In order to use the remote home automation features, do you have to subscribe to a monitoring package? (I.e. To turn on lights from your phone or unlock the doors using the zwave connectivity)

Yes, that seems to be 18 gauge wire and you can certainly use that wire as long as it's wired between an outlet where the Lyric transformer will be plugged in and the location where you'll mount the Lyric controller. You are limited to twenty feet between the panel and transformer when using 18 gauge wire. As the Lyric is an all-in-one wireless system and works with wireless sensors, you won't need any other wire other than the wire between the controller and the transformer. However, as most pre-wired homes are expecting you to have a regular wired system installed, they may not have pre-wired a location between where you want the Lyric Controller and an available outlet for the transformer so you'd have to double check where you have wires run. I hope this helps and let us know if you have any follow up questions.

Interesting, I see now that they did in fact release them on the retail side through their own website. We aren't able to buy them from our Honeywell supplier yet as they won't be available until the beta for using them with TC2 is completed. I haven't had any malfunctions using them through the TC2 in beta so I suggest you contact them directly at 800-633-3991 as they support the end user directly for the products sold on their retail site. They will be much better suited to help you as we haven't even been able to use them with the direct Lyric app yet. If you do get a fix or hear from them that there are known bugs, please report back here as we'd be very curious to know.
I tried to buy them from your site but they weren't available. I bought them directly from the Honeywell Home Store. There was no indication anywhere that they are Beta versions. That said, they are currently malfunctioning (reporting constant movement when there isn't any and Geofencing is not turning the cameras off when we're away) even though the Lyric App is indicating that everyone is "Away". The cameras were working OK until late last night).
Where did you get the C1 cameras? They are currently only available through Honeywell's beta program as far as I know. Did you perhaps get them through the retail beta program? The support for those cameras on Total Connect 2.0 and from the main Lyric panel won't be available until the beta program is over and they are fully released.
I installed two Honeywell Lyric C1 cameras but neither are recognized by the Panel. They also do not appear to be connected to my TC 2.0 account. Any ideas? The cameras work fine with the Lyric App (not HomeKit though).
I do believe you'll lose your Lyric WIFI thermostat control from the panel if your TC2 account is cancelled.

Which thermostats are you using? Are they Z-Wave or the Lyric WIFI thermostats or the Total Connect Comfort WIFI thermostats?
What exactly are you trying to setup? If you simply choose some Z-Wave devices with the actions you want, you can then select the "Based on another device" option on the Select Trigger page of the scene wizard to fire off a scene based on a sensor activation.

perhaps i am overlooking something but the only scene options related to security are arm/disarm. i had certain scenes that were triggered by thing like motion sensors.
Once you have an active Total Connect 2.0 account, the local scene control gets muted. Now that you have a TC2 account, you should be able to do all of your scene control from the totalconnect2.com website.

Yes, that is the behavior we are familiar with Craig. As far as we know, the Lyric round thermostat is the only WIFI thermostat you can control from the panel itself.

You can integrate Honeywell WIFI Total Connect Comfort thermostats into a Total Connect 2.0 account so that you'd have control of your Lyric and TCC thermostats from the same app but there's no option for controlling those WIFI thermostats from the Lyric panel itself (at least at this time anyways).
Will the Honeywell Lyric work with Honeywell WiFi thermostats?
At this time, the Lyric doesn't integrate with the Amazon Echo but Honeywell has indicated that they are working on opening up that integration and if/when they do, we'll certainly be posting about it on our site.
Will the Honeywell Lyric work with Amazon Echo Dot home automation?
It sounds like it may be coming by the end of July based on our last conversations with Honeywell. Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of Honeywell and Apple with this new awaited feature and we are just as anxious as you are I'm sure. We will continue to update the site as we hear more though.
Dare I ask if there's any update on HomeKit? Honeywell is close to missing their announced date by a full quarter. (Of course, Chamberlain is just as late with my garage door integration.)

Dimensions for the lyric wall unit? Maybe I am blind but I can't find them listed here or at Honeywell. I see it is a 7 inch display so I am guessing the entire unit is fairly large.
Brent, depends on what controls your lights... if its the panel, you seem to be limited right now by the panel itself. Homekit would take care of this, but without TC2 support in IFTTT, you're kinda stuck. If you can find a way to use it there is a TC2 API that takes web calls. It will report statuses, control devices, etc. Might be an option depending on how desperate for this you are. Otherwise sounds like waiting for Homekit might be good. I heard today they just released their software only validation specs which was probably a hurdle to getting the honeywell firmware for it release (since there is no certified hardware to my knowledge).
Our Honeywell rep has said we might see a beta unit of the C1 sometime in the next week or two so I'd expect that to be released in the coming months. The C2 probably won't be released until later this year.

Unfortunately, after checking closer, it seems there really is no way to just download the firmware update file and send it to you directly for you to load it via USB as there is a special "key file" required as well and the only way to generate one is to have an active account for your system. I would suggest signing up for service online at https://www.alarmgrid.com/monitoring if you'd like to get your system updated to the latest firmware.
I know you'll be able to arm/disarm from Siri and if you have a Z-Wave scene set to function off of an arm/disarm, those scenes would fire off once you ask Siri to arm/disarm. I'm not entirely sure if you'll be able to ask Siri to run a scene specifically though. Unfortunately, Honeywell (and it sounds like it's really coming from Apple) hasn't provided much detail on how the integration will function exactly.
Once HomeKit firmware is available will Siri commands to the panel in turn send commands to z-wave devices associated with the panel?
We have the ticket assigned to someone that is working on getting the firmware page updated and they will let you know once it's available. You could also always try the Self Bronze service and then we can push it remotely if you didn't want to wait for us to get it loaded.
Yes, as long as the panel is connected to WIFI and you have the Self Bronze service with us, you'll be able to have the disarm snapshots stored to your Total Connect 2.0 account and they would be accessible remotely so you could see how did the disarming. Only disarms done at the panel (not ones initiated by TC2) will cause a snap shot.

Would the basic self monitoring allow me to receive images by text from the built in camera when disarming?
If you program all your wireless flood sensors as 24 Hour Auxiliary for the Response Type in the zone programming, you could then setup the Smart Scene to trigger when any 24 Hr Aux zone type is triggered so that any flood sensor activating would start your scene.
Yes, it's frustrating to still be waiting for the integration that was supposed to be out weeks ago. We will continue to press Honeywell on the full release date and let you all know once we hear back with confirmation.

I'm looking to add water leak sensors throughout the home (about 20 total), and have a smartscene to trigger a z-wave water shutoff valve if leak is detected with *any* of the sensors. Is there a way to achieve this with one SmartScene, or would I need to create 20 SmartScenes for each zone/sensor?
Apple is a god darn time wasting ball kicking, grave spitting pain in the rear. I love iPhone. But every step of the way to automation they have been an obstacle to HomeKit. The sorry state of HomeKit and the absolute defeat of it as a standard is in fact a display of the total ignorance which Apple represents in this space. They did the same with the chamberlain garage door opener. So we have to wait for Apple to piss on it, and then Honeywell could release the product they had ready months ago.

No, only the Honeywell IPCAMs work with the Lyric at this time and there will be the newer Lyric cameras (C1 and C2) coming out this year. You can, of course, also use a third party camera system in conjunction with the Lyric system and just not have them be integrated in to the panel.
Sterling have you identified any non-honeywell ip cameras that work with the lyric controller?

TC2 doesn't integrate with IFTTT natively but you could certainly setup an IFTTT rule triggered by a TC2 email alert that you'd get from the system.
Hmm. That's disappointing. Do you know if the Lyric (or TC2) includes any sort of IFTT message for armed/disarmed status (or any other way to access the status of the security system)? I may be able to accomplish this outside of the Lyric controller. I have no interest (at all) in controlling lights from my iPhone or from the panel (in fact my wife specifically does NOT want any "obtrusive" gimicky home automation...)
No, unfortunately, at this time the panel doesn't support that type of conditional logic. However, you could set up the regular schedule for the lights and then also setup a TC2 alert when the lights change state when the system is Disarmed or Armed Stay. You could then manually change the lights status via TC2 based on the alert that comes through to you letting you know the schedule ran during the times you didn't want it to. I'm sure this is not the desired setup but with a bit of a manual intervention, it would work.
Cool, thanks - wanted to make sure I put it in the appropriate location. Basically I'm trying to determine whether it is possible to set up a scenario where certain lights will go on/off according to a schedule, but ONLY if the Lyric security is "Armed-Away". When not "Armed-Away" I want to have manual control over the lights (some are wall switches, some are manual switches built into the lights). I would imagine the latter is the trickier (not possible without a work-around).
If you press Security > Tools > enter Installer Code > Program, do you see the Update firmware option?
We were happy to help Craig and I'm glad to hear that despite some sensors showing only one green bar, you aren't getting any actual supervision troubles anymore.
If you go in and out of programming mode too quickly, you'll see an incorrect red signal strength reading. Have you ever had an actual supervision trouble on any of your SiX Sensors Brent? If not, it sounds like your home just has some issues with RF signaling but without the actual supervision troubles, you shouldn't have to worry about range/supervision issues.

How can I update all my software for the C/P and Six sensors without having monitoring service?
I haven't had any supervisor issues since you helped me with firmware update when you and I spoke on the phone a week or so ago. Still only "one bar" on a couple of the sensors but still is working OK. Thanks for all your help
Where is the best place to post questions about using zWave for home automation? I have some questions about setting up some lighting...
I just installed a system yesterday and I'm having similar issues. Except I'm in a 1,600 sq ft house on a single level. The farthest sensors (which are about 50' away in a straight line, but through about 4 walls) usually read a single bar of connectivity, but will throw the red alert message occasionally when I am in programming mode. Mine are mounted to wooden doors and Vinyl windows. I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in the range (but in fairness I had to add a second WiFi access point to that room due to poor connectivity to my main access point which is located very close to my Lyric Controller).
If you want a completely self-contained system (e.g. "local noisemaker") with no monthly fees, then the Lyric system probably isn't the best choice for you. The Lyric system was designed to be monitored, so in order to access the system remotely (via the Total Connect 2.0 app or web site) you have to at least pay for the basic "self monitoring" program. If you want more advanced features (such as zWave home automation or cellular backup communications) then you have to step up to higher priced plans. Any of the plans can add central station (third party) monitoring for about $10 a month extra.
I just installed a Lyric controller yesterday - you don't need any special wiring - Any wire suitable for low-voltage DC will be fine. I had some jacketed 18 gauge paired wiring left over from a boat wiring project, and I just used that. You could buy something similar at your local hardware store.

Hi. I was reading in Lyric paragraph "The Lyric comes with a transformer but no cabling included. Check out the LT-Cable for easy power cycling and installation." What this means? I need to buy those cabling for ac power?
As far as we know, those lights are WIFI (not Z-Wave) and therefore won't integrate with the Lyric system. Once Apple's HomeKit integration is released for the Lyric, other Homekit lights should be able to be tied in (I don't see the Sylvania ones listed as HomeKit compatible though).
Last we heard, Honeywell was saying "any week now" as they were waiting for Apple's final approval on the integration so that Honeywell can release the new firmware.
In regards to z wave lights. Does the lyric controller work with Sylvania osram color z wave lights? Would I be able to change the color or just turn them on or off and set a schedule? Would I need to get the sylvania osram hub? Just trying to avoid having to use multiple apps for everything and keep everything as streamlined as possible.

Yes, the integration will be made available using a panel firmware update (no new hardware needed) once Apple gives final approval.

Honeywell is still saying that they are waiting for Apple to sign off on the new firmware that will allow for the HomeKit integration. We expect it to be released in the next month or so.

We hope it will be out in the next month or 2 but it has already been delayed from Honeywell's original expectations (it was supposed to already be out) and they haven't given us a new exact ETA. They said they are waiting on Apple's final approval for the release. We won't have any videos on the integration until at least after it's been released.

Did all this - works just fine. Basically, I now think of "Stay" as "Day" and "Night Stay" as "Night." I just bounce between those. Gates are included at night.

We just checked with Honeywell today and they indicated it's still coming "soon" but didn't give a specific ETA. It sounds like they are waiting for Apple to give final approval for the integration so they can release the new firmware.

Yes, if you select Yes for the Arm Night option within the zone settings for the gate sensors (once you make them Interior Follower), you'd be able to arm Away for all sensors, Stay for all sensors but the motions and gate sensors and Night Stay for all sensors (including the gate sensors) but not the motions. HomeKit does support all three arming modes.
I think you are on to something. But I want Arm Away to ignore the gates and Arm Stay to include. (I.e. When away during day I want the gates excluded, because neighbors open them to trim hedges or UPS comes through to drop a package, but at night I want them included. Is there a way to get them in just for Arm Night Stay?) And what Arm modes will HomeKit support? I'll want to use the Home app for most of my arming and disarming. So if it won't do Arm Night Stay I'll just want to stick to the other 2 modes and have the gates excluded for away and included for Stay, which I will mainly use at night.
You can't arm certain zones using a Scene but the panel does offer some different arming modes so that you could set something up that would work for you. One easy option, would be to change the Device Type to Other for those three zones and then use a Response Type of Interior Follower (which is usually used for motions). With the Interior Follower zone type, the gates would be disabled in Stay mode and on in Away mode. Would that work for you?
Can I create custom arm "scenes" and save them? I know I can do this ad-hoc. But i'd like to create an "Arm Day" scene that ignores my 3 back yard gate sensors, and an "Arm Night" scene that includes them. I'm not seeing where this is possible to do, but it's such a no-brainer it has to be something someone would want.
You can't use Z-Wave sensors to activate the system but it does work with 3rd party Z-Wave control device (lights, locks, thermostats, etc). You need to use Honeywell 5800 Series (https://www.alarmgrid.com/browse/honeywell-5800-sensors ) or SiX Series (https://www.alarmgrid.com/browse/honeywell-six-sensors ) sensors to actually set off the Lyric system. Also, the Lyric does support a Secondary Controller feature so you could use it with a 3rd party Z-Wave controller but the functionality may be limited depending on what you are looking for it to do with the 3rd party controller.

I would check them off the frames as the aluminum may be affecting the RF signaling. If they work reliably with sensor and magnet in your hands, off their existing installation location, you may just need to get a few strips of double sided tape to "pad" them out from the framing so that the sensor and magnet aren't being affected by the aluminum
The SiX sensors are huge so I had to install them "backwards" (e.g., magnet on the frame; main sensor box on the window using adhesive). The window frames are aluminum. I am kind of reluctant to remove the sensors but I can if you think that will help. If I do that I will probably have to buy some double stick adhesive (one sensor already fell off twice).
Going in and out of programming too quickly can cause that message about the sensors to be displayed. The "fix" option isn't actually doing anything other than giving you the chance to re-program the zone (assuming you have the wrong MAC/serial number or loop number programmed). The new firmware (which will be available once you are activated for service) may improve the SiX Series signaling to those two sensors but if it is just a range or RF interference issues, the new firmware may not fix anything. Are the sensors installed on metal windows/doors or frames? If you remove the sensors from their mounting location, do they fault/restore reliably when testing them in the same room but just in your hands?

Different rooms. One is bedroom; the other is Master Bath. They both are stubborn and don't want to restore. They alternate between one bar (green) or all red bars. I have been bypassing them. When exiting the Programming/Zones screen I get a msg that says something like "one or more sensors have insufficient signal strength" and then I am given the option to "fix" or "exit". I have tried clicking on Fix multiple times. Not sure if Fix actually tries to increase signal strength or if its just asking for confirmation that the Installer (me in this case) is acknowledging that it is fixed.

If you have a 3rd generation Apple TV and have it properly connected to the Lyric you can arm/disarm remotely. It's not as advanced as the paid Total Connect 2.0 offering but it does allow for remote system control and some basic alerts.
If you have Apple TV then even outside the house. I ask because alarm grid charges extra for remote arm/disarm. So this is a win win feature. If I use the 5800cdw it won't affect things right?
You can arm/disarm the system through the HomeKit integration as long as you are either home on the same WIFI as the system or as long as you have a HomeKit hub (3rd gen Apple TV or iPad) connected to the Lyric.
Are they both in the same room or different rooms? Do the sensors fault/restore as expected anywhere in their respective rooms?

We have a Lyric panel running an un-released version of the panel firmware that does offer the HomeKit integration so I would say that's as much of a guarantee as we can provide (being that we aren't Honeywell ourselves) that the Homekit integration is coming and won't require a new Lyric system once released.

The sensors talk directly to the Lyric controller so no WIFI extender would help. How many sensors are giving you the supervision troubles and is your system currently monitored?
But homekit is gauranteed to come out at some point in the near future? Because chamberlain promised and didn't deliver because they need some special sauce apple chip. I hope you have the hardware requirements covered before making the promise? It's an expensive panel.
My window SiX sensors that are furthest away from the controller have been throwing faults (supervisor, etc.) due to a weak signal. Will a wi-fi extender such as the LinkSys Max-Stream AC-9100 cure this? Moving the controller is not an option (it is near my front door).
If you enter programming mode and hit the Communicator option, you should be able to toggle the Communication Path to None and then save to avoid the 950 Comm Failure trouble until you are ready to activate monitoring service. Yes, they all go off at the same time and announce what room the smoke is in. I am currently using Takahashi Systems as my Monitoring service. Have used them for over 20 years with my old system (FBII). They claim that they can monitor the Lyric for me but they said a technician has to come out first. I haven't arranged the house call yet as I have lots of construction going on at my home right now.
The SiXSMOKEs would cause an audible voice alarm at the Lyric so you have the voice telling you there is a fire alarm. They don't have CO protection integrated, but you could use the new 5800COMBOs (https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-5800combo ) instead as the Lyric does support the older 5800 Series sensors as well. With the Nest smokes, when one goes off, do they all go off? Also, if your system monitored currently?
Sterling, thank you for the detailed response. The Nest smoke alarms are amazing . . . when cooking they warn you of smoke and the voice is so clear it sounds like a real person in the room with you. They also function as night lights and provide CO protection which I don't think the SiXSMOKES do, right?
Hi Craig, I'm sorry to hear that you were expecting to use the system with some other devices that aren't currently supported. With so many different technologies out today, it can be hard to have an exhaustive product description that details everything that is and is not supported without overwhelming someone that's looking for a new system. With that said, Honeywell is going to be releasing new IPCAMs this year as well as some new Lyric supported cameras as well so you should have better options for camera support soon. Also, just to clarify, the WAP is not required. As long as you are using supported cameras, they will integrate to your network via Ethernet or via wireless with any router that supports WPS encryption. Of course, you could also always use a separate camera system (such as the Arlo Pro you mentioned) and have it work nicely in conjunction with the alarm system without it needing to be integrated into TC2. If you get a call from the central station saying you had a motion alarm on your Lyric, you would just have to give them your false alarm password and ask them to wait a minute while you check your Arlo camera app to see if it's a real alarm event or not. As for the garage door control, while the 5877 module used for the garage door control is not supported on MyQ garage door controllers, we did hear some rumblings at ISC West about this possibly changing sometime soon. Unfortunately, we don't expect that Nest smoke detectors will ever integrate with the Lyric system but you do have the option of swapping them out with the SiXSMOKEs (https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-sixsmoke ) instead. I purchased a Honeywell Lyric Security system from you. There are features that are wonderful but there are also headaches. An example of a Headache: Nowhere in the Lyric Controller manual does it indicate that only certain approved cameras work with the system. I had hoped that any camera that had an IP and MAC address could be used. Honeywell's website and documentation does not describe this limitation anywhere. Now it is too late as I already had an electrician install the main controllers and keypads in my house. Not blaming you guys but I recommend that you add some Notes to your product description for the Controller on your site. One of the decision points (e.g., decision to Buy) for me was the looks of the Controller. It is attractive and does not look like it was made in 1988 like so many other alarm panels do. The Honeywell IPCAMs however, are Fugly and dated looking, require a Honeywell WAP and don't have the flexibility I need. I wanted to go with a NetGear Arlo Pro system but now that is Out if I want it monitored through Total Connect. I also found out after the fact that I cannot control and monitor my LiftMaster Garage Doors through the Lyric. That is a major bummer. I will have to continue to use MyQ for that. Nest Smoke Alarms (I have Three) also cannot be monitored through the system, As is typical with Manufacturer's sales propaganda they only tell you about all the wonderful things their products are capable of . . . they omit the potential negatives. I wish I had asked you guys more questions Before buying.
It will provide some of what TC2 offers now (assuming you have the right setup) as you can arm/disarm the system remotely and receive alerts. The alerts are much more generic and simply say the system was activated. They don't clarify the type of alarm (burg/fire/panic) or the zone name/number and you don't have access to the event log or user code management that TC2 provides. Also, it doesn't (at least for now) tie in with the TC2 Z-Wave home automation.
Will this integration mean we'll no longer need to rely on total connect for remote access?
We don't have any specs on that camera yet but we're hoping it's out by Q3 of this year. As for the Homekit integration, we are told it's probably a couple of weeks out still.

It can take awhile to download and complete. You should exit programming mode after hitting Update firmware and wait until the panel reboots before verifying it went to the newest version.

Yes, you will be able to pass in front of the Interior Follower motion on your way out as long as you are clear of the motion by the end of the exit delay. You can also arm the system from your SiXFOB and still leave through an entry/exit zone. You have the option to choose away or stay when arming (different buttons arm to different modes) so you can choose Arm Away or Arm Stay from the fob and you can do that if you are in the home or not. Failed on their statement to release in Q1. I'm not surprised. I'm sure they are working as hard like you said, but its very disappointing when companies announce specific release windows, don't deliver, and without any notice whatsoever of the delay. I have the Lyric Alarm system. I have two exterior doors set up on exit delay 1 and exit delay 2. I also have motion sensors set on "interior follower" that I have to pass when exiting the house. When exiting, will these motion sensors set off an alarm, or will they provide the exit delay that I need to leave the house. (I would solve this by trial and error, but I don't want to set off an alarm and disturb the neighbors, because I have two SixSirens outside the house). 2nd question: Can I use the SixFob to set the alarm from within the house, then exit through one of the exterior doors that I have set up on exit delay? If I exit the house, then use the SixFob to set the alarm, will it set the alarm in Arm Stay, even though I have already exited the house? Thanks....
We don't recommend trying to double or triple up the wires to use longer wire than what's recommend in the installation guide.

I understood your question, but I wanted to clarify exactly how your existing keypad gets power as most people that do this type of conversion aren't realizing that the control panel is in between the existing system transformer and the keypad. Are you confirming that you do understand this and that the existing transformer is nearby so that you could physically make the proper connection from the keypad wire, currently terminated in the Safewatch panel, to the transformer wire (also currently terminated in the Safewatch panel)?
Well 4-wire smoke detectors are pretty complicated to setup properly on a wired system as special wiring and programming (sometimes with a relay module used as well) is required so if you only have one now, I would think it would be better to just replace it with a SiXSMOKE (https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-sixsmoke ). I'm not even sure if the ESL 541CXT is listed for a VISTA-20P or 2iIP (you'd have to check with the manufacturer as they would know what panels that model is listed for) so you'd be possibly looking at replacing it with a new 2-wire or 4-wire smoke detector anyways and the SiXSMOKE isn't that much more than the wired versions.
Sorry if I wasn't clear. My question was about doubling up two higher gauge wires to emulate a lower gauge wire. I would definitely use the Lyric's transformer. But I would use 4 wires (already in the wall) from the transformer to the Lyric. 2 for positive and 2 for negative. The idea is to decrease the resistance by doubling up the wire -- and therefore accommodating a longer run (and sparing me the hassle of putting new wire in the wall). I think it would work, but I was wondering if you had ever seen it done.

How many existing smokes do you have?
The existing Safewatch 2000 gets power from a 2-wire connection going from a wall transformer plugged into a standard wall outlet. The existing keypad for that system, then gets power directly from the control panel itself. Therefore, you'd have to first ensure where the existing transformer that powers the Safewatch panel is in the home before even considering something like this. In nearly all cases, it's easier to just mount the Lyric in a new location that's near an outlet.

What kind of smoke/heat detectors do you have now? Are they 2-wire or 4-wire? Are they tied into an existing alarm system?
Not what I wanted to hear, but thanks (as always) for the information. I'm trying to justify the cost of upgrading to the Lyric and having to buy new smoke/heat detectors makes the justification (from an ROI point of view) harder. I'm sure this is grasping at straws, but I recall reading that using the wired smokes with the 5800C2W is "not recommended." Does that mean it'll work, but that there is some sort of compromise? Or does it mean it doesn't work at all?
I'm in a similar situation where I may be replacing an older Vista-20SE (ADT Safewatch 2000). I want to use the wire already in the wall to go from the transformer to the Lyric. Unfortunately, the wire from the current panel (where there is a convenient outlet) to the current keypad is too light a gauge for the length of the run. However I'm pretty sure there are 6 wires available (definitely four wires). I know you can double up on wires to get the equivalent of a higher gauge. The rule I have read is that "to create the equivalent of a wire of AWG(N), you need two strands of AWG(N+3)". If that works then my four 22 gauge wires can be considered two 19 gauge (assuming I double up the wires). And I could arguably triple the wires to get the equivalent of 17 gauge. So, I'm wondering what do you think of this? Do you think this would cause any problems? No, in fact, the panel won't let you select anything other than 'window' or 'door' for the 2 hardwired zones so you wouldn't be able to program it to act as a fire zone.

We actually reported your issues to Honeywell already Bruce and we are waiting to hear back from their team. It sounds like there may be a known issue (they alluded to something with the Lyric built-in cameras but didn't give any specifics) so we'll be in touch once we hear back from them.

Bruce, have you tried rebooting the panel yet? If not, please try that and see if you are still getting the error on totalconnect2.com when clicking the wrench icon on the camera. If you do still see the error, please email support@alarmgrid.com with your TC2 log-in credentials (feel free to set the password to something temporary before sending it to us) so that we can have Honeywell take a look at your account. As for the Lyric water leak sensor, we've been told it will eventually be able to tie in with the Lyric security system but in the mean time, you can use the 5821 (https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-5821 ) with the FP280 (https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-fp280 ) probe as the 5821 sensor works with the system now.
Looking forward to home kit compatibility for Lyric. Strange that it doesn't seem compatible with the the Honeywell Lyric water leak sensor? Bigger issue for me now is that the built-in camera doesn't work for me on the Lyric. Anyone else having similar difficulty?

We are expecting the Homekit compatibility to be released this week but Honeywell did say that may be "subject to change". The Lyric system allows Z-Wave integration and has Smart Scene setup which is slightly different than the LYNX Touch setup. However, once you connect the Lyric to Total Connect 2.0, you need to program and manage your Z-Wave scenes through TC2's Smart Scene wizard online. The Lyric won't support more advanced conditional Z-Wave logic like a SmartThings would but it does work well for more basic security/automation integration and it does have voice command capability. Depending on the complexity of the Z-Wave setup you are looking for, you may be better off doing the automation separately through the 3rd party controller and doing just the security through the Lyric. Honeywell did say they are looking at adding more advance conditional logic so perhaps with future firmware updates, the Lyric would do more of what STs does now.
Sterling, any update on the Homekit compatibility that was announced for this controller for Q1? Also how does the z-wave programability of this compare with the older Lynx Touch? Ideally I want something to replace my Lynx that has the brains of smart things or similar, has a voice component (Siri or Alexa), but yet have 1 device to manage (and the security system is that now).

A wireless range extender would not extend the range of a Lyric system to SiX devices as there is no repeater option for those devices currently.

I use the 5800 series sensors on my Vista21iP+Tuxedo Touch system through the high security 5800 transceiver connected to the panel. Yes, you can use the 5800 repeater to expand the sensor network service area, or potentially, you could purchase an amplified antenna set on the 5800 connections to reach potentially far beyond the 400' distance. Though latency overall will be the limiting factor regardless of transmission power. I would figure that this is a slim possibility for what the Honeywell trainer was referring to though as the Lyric controller does not seem to have appropriate connections for this application. The other more probable alternative to boosting range is a Wireless Range extender that is SSID independent (just repeats all wireless communications it sees).
Total Connect Comfort thermostats can already be controlled through TC2.0 on iOS. TC2.0 Beta is currently running in security phase for Android with full release expected by the end of 2017.
Yes, it's just confusing naming convention but that is the recommended method to arm to "instant" mode per the Lyric user guide.
There are wireless remote keypads for this system, just as there are for a wired system. I would suggest mounting keypads near doors, and putting the system somewhere away from the doors, if you're worried about the type of scenario you mentioned. Also, the panel has logic to help with this too, it's called Advanced Protection Logic, and we enable it on all our systems/plans where central station monitoring is enabled, and the panel supports it.
great looking system.... but am I the only one concerned that the cellular "controller" and the brains of this unit is right behind the keypad? If the keypad is a couple of feet from the door, who is to say that a burglar wont just bash the keypad with a baseball bat making it useless or just dropping it in water.... I think that security aspect of the older security systems was great- the brains of the security system is in a metal box hidden somewhere in the home and your keypad is just a keypad.

Okay, that all makes sense then. You can arm to a "stay-instant" mode by hitting Arm Custom, selecting all the zones you want active (excluding any motions you want off) and tapping the Arm Custom option at the bottom right of that zone selection screen and finally making sure the Entry Delay selection is not highlighted blue before you enter the arming code. Once you arm this way once, you won't have to re-select the zones next time you go through the process.
Yes they were and it was visible. I just disconnected and connected to separate zones. The only hard part was tracing the wire through the rats nest my builders left in the alarm panel. I am a little disappointed that the Lyric doesn't have a Stay-Instant option.
Were they both run in series on one zone previously? If so, is the splice for the series connection visible at the wire terminations for the old panel?
I found out the issue with a little more googling. The tamper switch on the 5800C2W wasn't installed. Once i installed that then it was good to go. Just have to figure out how to separate my front door and garage door sensors.
It may be that the system is not compatible with that device or that the system only supports from of the features of that device as Honeywell system's don't work with Z-Wave "sensors" (door/window contacts, motions, temperature sensors, etc) and only work with Z-Wave "control" device (lights, locks, thermostats, etc).
What 'Service' do you have selected on the zone programming page for the door sensor in question?
Hi, just wondering about using Smart Scene's with Zwave devices. The Lyric controller seems to be limited in what devices it can see. ie. i'm trying to use it to set a Homeseer HSM200, however all it does is see it as a on/off light in Other devices. It doesn't even show up in the list of devices in the Smart Scenes I can set an action to. any ideas?
I'm having an issue where my door is seen as tamper instead of open. Once it faults it stays faulted. I'm not sure what the issue is. Can anyone help

The Lyric Controller can control Z-Wave receptacles or appliance modules. Hypothetically you can plug in LED strips to one of these. Not sure about RGB spectrum.

Thank you! I switched it "none" (where it was on WiFi, as I connected it to my home WiFi I thought it needed to be set that way.) But the contacts do not sound when a door or windows is opened when the system is not armed. Any thoughts?
The comm error should not affect your ability to arm/disarm. However you can simply go into the installer programming menu and disable the communication path: Security > Tools > Installer Code > Program > Communicator > Toggle comm path to none and save. Do you possibly have any faulted zones besides the comm trouble? A zone being seen as open (aka faulted) would affect your ability to arm the system.
Sterling, watched all of your videos and installed my new Lyric system and SIX window/door sensors - thank you for the guidance! However, I am unable to arm the system and get around the "950 Comm Error" message. I do not wish to monitor the system at this time and just want to use it as a self-monitored system that chimes when the sensors are triggered. You mentioned that this is an option with the Lyric system in your video - any advice on how to get around the Comm Error and arm my system? Thank you.
The only possible hiccup would be the lack of support for wired life safety devices like wired smokes, heats and CO detectors. Beyond that you should not have any issues.

No, unfortunately there's no way to control the brightness of the home and panic keys as they are designed to illuminate in the dark so you can set off a panic or wake up the panel in the event of an emergency.
is there anyway to lower the brightness for home key and panic key on the control panel. i see in your video its that bright, for me it too bright and the way panel is installed someone from outside can see if my alarm is armed or not by looking at the panel.

There is a backlight timeout setting you can set to 30 seconds. That way it will turn off after 30 seconds without any button presses. Go to Security > More > Tools > Enter Installer Code (4112 by default) > Program > System Settings.
How do I turn the screen off on the lyric controller?
You could try deleting the zone and re-enrolling but from what you've said, it sounds like you may need to just re-locate the device.
Only the round Lyric thermostats can be integrated into the Lyric system (via a Total Connect 2.0 account) at this time. We do except the square thermostats to eventually be integrated as well but we don't have an expected date for that integration.
Hi: I'm planning to upgrade an old wired Ademco Vista 4110XM to a Lyric ecosystem adding a 5800C2W to convert each wired zone to zwave, a Lyric Controller and a Lyric Thermostat. My question is....Can I integrate any of the Lyric Thermostats (T5, T6 Pro or the Round one) to the Lyric Controller? I was checking documentation but only appear that can connect to the Lyric App, but nothing about the integration with the Lyric Controller.
It's the RF Supervision error (can't remember the exact error code # the panel is throwing, and TC doesn't give me the error # to check remotely). It was in place for a month with no issues, then started giving issues every few days. I took it off the ceiling and put it next to the panel, and it worked fine, so it appears to be some sort of distance/interference issue. There isn't really a better place for it than where I had it, so I was hoping that zone order would be the solution.
We were actually told to do that when the Lyric was still in Beta but with recent firmware updates, that requirement is no longer needed. What trouble alert are you getting on the SiXSIREN?
How important is adding zones starting with the furthest away? I'm having issues with a siren that seems to be distance/interference related (only about 50ft away, on the second story of a 2 story 3000sq ft house), and the panel was not set up with the furthest zone first (actually the opposite, the furthest ones are the later zones). If it is part of my problem, what would I need to do reconcile this? Can I just swap the item at zone 3 with the one that's furthest away? or would I need to remove everything and reprogram the zones from scratch?
Okay, well the latest firmware (which should be loaded on any panel you buy from us here on out) should allow for panel and sensor firmware updates as long as you have an active WIFI connection.
i don't have the panel yet but was thinking on getting the system. i don't think i want it monitored with total connect thats why i was wondering if i ever have to upgrade the firmware or any reason.
You can upgrade the firmware without a Total Connect plan. Depending on the current panel firmware version, you may need to have an active central station account to be able to upgrade the panel firmware though. Are you monitored now and do you know the current firmware version of your Lyric system?
It sounds like there was just some mis-communication of how the SiX Series sensors work. As they do operate on the 2.4 Ghz frequency range (but on a proprietary RF technology different than regular WIFI signaling), someone must have just mis-understood how it works. At this time, there is no option to extend the range of a SiX Series device but using a 5800 Series device and a repeater (https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-5800rp ), you could get up to 400' away from the panel as 5800 Series devices can work up to 200' away and with the repeater, you could theoretically double that range. Anything beyond that would require another solution (wired or hybrid system instead).
can i upgrade the firmware for the panel or sensors without having to have total connect? if i am just on wifi network ? or does it require for me to have total connect account?
I do in fact have the trainers name but not sure I want to disclose it on an open forum. The question came up as a friend of mine who installs Honeywell systems, primarily pre-Lyric models, is not typically familiar with wifi systems and general networking technologies so he asked me if I would have a discussion with Honeywell regarding options for extending range. The building he is attempting to secure is very large (estimated at 8 to 10,000 sqFt) My friend initially spoke to the trainer and heard that if there was a wireless network in place that the sensor range could be increased utilizing the building network as a communication medium. My initial thought not understanding the make up of the SIX Series sensor was that they could be programmed to communicate with the wireless network to the main console via its own encryption protocol across the network. When I spoke to the trainer and asked him to elaborate he informed me that this was the case. however it was not necessary or even possible to program the sensor. I then asked how does the sensor module communicate with the encrypted wireless network and the response it just does. This didn't make sense to me so I figured I would play devils advocate and test but of course the result was not successful. We did in addition attempt to test with 5800 sensors and repeater but this provided little benefit. My suspicion was basically what you disclosed above. Are you aware if Honeywell is looking at enhancing range options in the not too distant future? I am not sure if this is the arena to ask but are you familiar with other products (wireless) that can provide a similar feature set ? Thanks for clarifying.. TT
Do you know the name of the Honeywell trainer you spoke with? What exactly did the trainer say? The SiX Series sensors do not communicate through a location's WIFI network and only communicate directly to the Lyric panel in which they are enrolled.
I recently had the opportunity to speak to a Honeywell trainer regarding the Lyric system and was led to believe that the distance/range modules to the control panel would be increased if the main unit was attached to a wireless 2.4GHz Wifi building Network. The idea that was conveyed that the system sensors would communicate through the wifi network back to the main controller. Since being told this I did some testing and I do not believe this is true. I ran a distance test from main control panel to sensor with no connection to the building Wifi and then again connected to the building wifi. I have not seen any difference/increase in range. Even though the wifi signal encompasses the entire building. This leads me to believe that the sensors may communicate utilizing a wifi signal but only direct from the sensor to the control unit and not through the already in place wireless network. Can someone please confirm this? Thanks! TT
Have you tried moving the 5800C2W closer and testing with just a resistor strapped across the zone terminals? Removing one leg of the resistor would simulate a zone fault. I'd be curious to hear if the delays change at all.
No, the wireless sensors are perfectly fine and consistent.
We haven't heard of any delays on wired sensors going through a 5800C2W activating a Lyric system. Are you seeing any delays in activations from any of the wireless sensors that don't go through the 5800C2W?
I have completed my Lyric system install and also utilized my existing pre-wired contacts and motion sensors using a 5800C2W. While the system is operational, I do observe a variable delay (0-3s) when triggered on the zones that are connected the 5800C2W and the other wireless zones are reposting instantly and consistently. The 5800C2W unit is mounted closely to the Lyric and I don't believe it is an reception issue. Is this a common problem? Anything I can do to troubleshoot this? Thanks
Unfortunately not. You will have to replace them with the LKP500: https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-lkp500. Another option would be install the SiXSIREN: https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-sixsiren. This is a wireless siren that is capable of chiming when zones are opened.

Tony, The first thing I would check is the transformer. Do you have a meter? If not I recommend picking one up from your local hardware store. Plug in your transformer and confirm you are getting 9 volts. Be sure to have the meter set on DC. It is possible that he just cooked the transformer and not the panel depending on how he wired it. Report back after this. Otherwise you can just order a new panel from us today before 3PM and select overnight shipping.
Hey Sterling..I have an issue that I need to fix asap..We bought a new home and for efficiency sake had a guy install the the Lyric we bought from you..Order R321616154 Anyway, He did something to the controller and now it won't work at ALL! My guess is that he crossed the power wires as I thought .i smelled it..Anyway, its fried and we Ned it up and running by Friday..Is there a fuse that would have burned out if he did that? I sure hope Honeywell was smart enough to design one in so it could be repaired later. It's still under warranty but I'm guessing that's out and I need it now..I think I have two options.Buy another from you and pay for overnight shipping or take it to the local electronic repair who are great. Can it be repaired if he switch the ground and power and cooked it for a second? If not, I need to buy one and reuse my Verizon card. Only 4 digit codes will sync with the Lyric panel since it only supports 4 digit user codes. I believe you can still setup local 6 or 8 digit codes but they just will not sync up with the system.
I recently installed Schlage Connect Smart Locks on my exterior doors and the access codes on the locks can be up to 8 digits. WIll Lyric work with the longer lock codes and not just a 4 digit code? I'd rather have the security of at least a 6 digit code. Thanks!
You can't make 2 Lyric Controllers behave as if they are a single system, if that's what you're asking. You can get the "MyHome Controller" app and with it on your smart device, as long as you're on the same WIFI network the Lyric is connected to, you can control the system from the smart device, as if it were a 2nd touchscreen keypad. There is also the LKP500 Lyric Keypad, which you can install as a 2nd point of control, though it's not a touchscreen, in the same sense the Lyric is. If you want to control the system from anywhere, even remotely, there's always Total Connect 2.0.
Can you use (2) Lyric Controllers together?
The new SiX Series sensors operate on the 2.4Ghz frequency and tout a longer range (300' compared to 200' for the original 5800 Series sensors). With a steel/brick building of that size, you may still not get good range throughout the property though. There is a repeater (5800RP - https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-5800rp ) available for the 5800 Series sensors but there is no repeater for the SiX Series sensors. Did you ever try a repeater when you had the L7000 installed?
I have had issues in the past in steel/brick buildings with wireless door sensors failing to communicate with the Lynx 7000 Alarm Controller. Is it expected that the new series of sensor can communicate any better? Are they going to operate like a repeater, similar to a Z-Wave device? We are building a new 8000 sq. ft. commercial facility, and I would like to stay with Honeywell security, I just need to get past that hurdle. Thanks

You can use the SiXSIREN (https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-sixsiren ) which is a wireless siren designed for the Lyric.
Is there a way to hook up a external loud siren with the Lyric. I see that the 5800rl is not compatible. Is there another relay module that is compatible.
As you can have false alarms with smoke detectors due to dust or smoke getting into the sensing chamber when it's not a real fire, the Fire with Verification option ignores the very first trip of the smoke alarm and only sends the alarm to the system if a second smoke alarm is triggered right after. As heat detectors are nearly false alarm proof, the system doesn't offer the verification option on the heat detector zone as it's not required.
The SiX series smoke detectors are finally available. Each has a smoke output and a heat output, which must be programmed as separate zones. I have the option of programming my Lyric Controller so that the smoke output is set to "Fire with Verification" or "Fire No Verification". What's the difference? The heat output only provides Fire No Verification.
Yes, the Lyric is compatible with the older 5800 Series sensors and the newer SiX Series sensors. The only devices that work with the L5210 that aren't supported on the Lyric are the wireless 5828 and 5828V keypads, the wireless 5800WAVE siren and the wireless 5800RL relay module. The Lyric does support wireless LKP500 keypads and SiXSIREN wireless sirens though. Also, depending on what alarm communicators you have installed in your L5210, you may have to upgrade those as well. The Lyric has a built-in WIFI module so that won't need replacing but if you have cellular, you will need to get a Lyric-3G or Lyric-CDMA as the existing L5210 cellular module isn't supported by the Lyric.
Hi, I recently installed the Lynx 5210 system. Will the new Lyric work with the old Lynx Touch sensors installed in my house? Could I simply just buy the new control center? Or will I have to replace everything to upgrade?
Generally speaking, Alarm.com is quicker to integrate with third party platforms such Amazon Alexa devices, Nest thermostat, Lutron Lights, MyQ garage doors. However AlarmNet (Honeywell's server that hosts TC) is opening up to third party integration with devices like the August lock, SkyBell HD Video Doorbell, and WiFi TC comfort thermostats. All in all, if you're looking to integrate other major tech devices Alarm.com is currently winning this battle. They both very reliable platforms.

We're not sure why the Honeywell specs are more limited but we have been told by them to make sure not to exceed the specs. It could be the difference in voltage as the 2Gig uses a 14V transformer while the Lyric uses a 9V transformer. You could always run a new wire from the panel to an outlet within the listed distances if you want the Lyric. There some tricks you can do with snaking the wire around the side of the AC receptacle and replacing the plate with a Midway (larger plate) to hide the notch in the sheetrock. Always turn off your breaker on that circuit when working this closely with live power.
The power requirements for the Lyric are much more limited than for their competitor, the 2GIG GC3 panel. The documentation for 2GIG GC3 says 18 gauge wire can be used for up to 125 feet, while 22 gauge can be used for 50 feet. The Lyric installation guide says 18 gauge is limited to 20 feet and 22 gauge is limited to 8 feet. I wonder why such a dramatic difference. I had pre-wired for panel locations in my home during construction, but if I go with the Lyric panel, I will not be able to use that wire.
The choice of the communicator you use for your Lyric (AT&T or Verizon), has nothing to do with your personal cell phone service as the communicator has its own SIM card and the company you sign up with will activate and pay for the SIM. You just have to choose the one that has good reception in your area. If you have both services now and they both work in the home, either communicator should work for you.

The Lyric has encrypted wireless sensors (the new Honeywell SiX Series sensors) that are available now and has a built-in WIFI module. The 2Gig GC3 is expected to have the encrypted sensors at some point but so far we have no word on when that will be from 2Gig. Also, the GC3's WIFI board is in the panel but the firmware that would make it usable hasn't been released yet. Another big difference is that the Lyric uses Total Connect 2.0 service for remote arming/disarming and alerts while the 2Gig systems use Alarm.com service instead.
If you enter programming and disable the 'Communication Path' setting on the 'Communicator' page of programming, it should get rid of the communication failure trouble.

The 5800C2W (https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-5800c2w ) module allows you to connect wired zones and have them become wireless zones that can be programmed to the Lyric. Each 5800C2W supports up to 9 wired zones and you can use more than one module. I'm moving into a new house that has pre-wired for sensors (all wiring goes to basement panel. What is required to use the Lyric controller (located on main floor) with wired sensors?
The panel does have a feature that can make the touchscreen go dark after 30 seconds of inactivity. It's the Backlight Timeout feature in the System Settings section of the panel programming. Underneath the touchscreen, the Home icon does also change from green to red when armed. This would still be visible even when the touchscreen times out.
Does the display stay on at all times or can it be turned off manually or after some inactivity? The location in my install would be visible through a window. I don't want it to be obvious when the system is not armed. Are there any LEDs that indicate armed state aside from the display?
Per Honeywell, 5 years with typical use on both. They will give you a low battery warning, usually about a month before they go dead, to give you time to replace them.
Approximately how long does the battery last in a Lyric SiXCT door sensor or SiXPIR motion sensor? Do they give you an alert through the Lyric when they are getting low?

The LYNX and Lyric are both all-in-one wireless systems that woudl require the 5800C2W module to convert the existing wired zones into wireless zones. It sounds like you prefer to just put in a new green circuit board (the VISTA-20P or VISTA-21iP) to replace your existing older model VISTA panel. I would suggest you email support@alarmgrid.com with your wants/needs as this is now getting off topic from the Lyric panel on this page.
That requires also an adapter for all the wireless zones, correct? And in that case I also need two new panels (which I might need anyway), correct? If I upgrade my current panels I think the 6160 appears to be a nice solution; what panel would be needed for the LYNX? Did I read correctly that I also need an adapter to drive the internal siren but not the external bell? (That seems odd.....) Essentially I'm asking for a list of items that need to be ordered if I upgrade. (I'll then look up individual prices to see what the cost of the upgrade is.) I do appreciate the guidance.....
I wasn't suggesting adding wireless zones. I was suggesting using your existing wiring and wired devices with a new easier to use interface (the LYNX Touch or Lyric).
I have no desired to add wireless. All current sensor are fully hidden as we installed the current system as the house was built. I see no need to start adding visible elements. So I need to see what keypad model I have to ensure they are still compatible. Once I get that info I'll want to know if there are any limitations.
You could swap out to a VISTA-20P (or a VISTA-21iP which is a 20P with a built-in IP communicator) and you'd just have to map the wires over terminal-by-terminal any then program the new system (using an alphanumeric keypad) to match the existing zone list. Another option is to upgrade to a LYNX Touch L7000 using the 5800C2W to convert your existing wired zones into wireless zones supported by the L7000. Our LYNX-EXT kit would allow you to integrate in your wired sirens (not available with the Lyric).
The current system is 20 years old. It indicates that it was made by ADEMCO and is model VISTA-20HW. There are currently 8 zones and the outside bell has served well for informal monitoring. We do not plan to pay for remote monitoring by a service at this time - but that could change. (When the alarm sounds we always hear from neighbors, checking on us.) I have wondered about a few more zones - there are a couple of zones that include more items than I prefer.
Are you planning to have the system monitored? How many current zones are programmed to the current system and what is the model number of the current system?
I used the chat feature on the Alarm Grid site earlier. We’ve an existing system but the controller is showing its age. The house is fully wired – 17 wired sensors. We’ve a siren inside the house and an alarm bell outside the house. I do not know their current loading. We do not connect to fire or other detectors – just intrusion. Seems the 20P plus two 6160 pads would work well depending on bell current draw. What I don’t know is what I don’t know to ask, or what information I might be missing.

No, the Lyric is an "all-in-one" system meaning the touchscreen unit is the keypad and control panel in one device. You can't interface two different alarm systems in one so you can't use the Lyric system with a VISTA-20P system.

That seems to refer only to the power, not the sensors.
The Lyric has the Advanced Protection Logic (APL) feature that protects from an intrusion where the intruder would destroy the panel during the entry delay so that an alarm would still be sent to the central station so you don't need to "hide" the panel away from the main entry points but you can certainly choose to put the main panel in the bedroom if you'd like.
in a two floor house with bedrooms on the second floor, does it make more sense to install the LCP500 on the second floor outside the bedrooms and a secondary LKP500 on the first floor where we enter? or vice versa?
The 5800MICRA are more popular for windows due to their slim depth. Generally windows do not have the depth required for the 5818MNL since the drillable, non-glass area is not as deep as the magnet. If you do use the MICRA you will need to use a Forstner bit to drill out the wider area with a flat bottom. If you are OK with surface motion options the 5820L is the best option for windows. The skinny width allows them to fit just about any window, including double hung...

If you are looking for window coverage without the surface mount sensors, you might look at a glassbreak sensor. https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-5853 These either go on the wall opposite the windows, or on the ceiling in the middle of the room. these cover a SINGLE room, so don't expect to put it in the hallway and pick up your bedrooms... this is a sensor that listens to the sound of breaking glass, and it's active for both arm stay and away... this is a "perimeter" style sensor, so if it goes off, the alarm goes off. for your exterior doors, get something like https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-5818mnl these are my favorite door sensor, and runs on a AAA battery :D sincerely, ex-Honeywell system installer
It's true that Encryption is a selling point of the Lyric, but the 2GIG GC3 doesn't offer any encrypted sensors at this point, and we have no idea when it will. It also doesn't support WIFI communication to central station at this point. With the Lyric, you can use the Encrypted sensors that you find aesthetically pleasing, and use the older style 5800 series devices in areas where the SIX series are not. The SIXGB is actually nicer looking than the older style 5800 series glass break, in my opinion, and the SIXSmokes, though, they're a little late to the party and are due out in the very near future, are far superior to the 5808W3's in that they can be interconnected so that if one sounds, they all sound.
Yes, if you are using a cellular communicator and want central station service with Total Connect 2.0 service, the Gold plan would be the right choice. It does include the ability to have the system send you a picture from the built-in camera when the system is disarmed. That feature does require an active WIFI connection at the panel though.
So the Gold Level monitoring would work with the Lyric and send the arm/disarm pictures taken from the panel to our cell phones?
Thanks Frank and Sterling for the suggestions. Seems one of the selling points of Lyric is encryption and bidirectional communication with the panel, so not using a six series sensor doesn't feel like it makes a whole lot of sense - with this panel anyway. Unless I'm misunderstanding? I suppose I could eventually swap them out (throwing away some $) if/when they come out. Or does 2gig have a better solution?
I recommend checking out the 5820L as well. The 5811 is the slimmest in depth but the 5820L is the slimmest in width. This makes it great for windows where you may not have much room to play with for surface mounting.
At this time there is no SiX Series recessed sensor or smaller SiX Series surface mount sensor but you can use any of the 5800 Series wireless Honeywell sensors with the Lyric as well. The 5811 is a smaller nicer looking surface mount sensor and the 5800MICRA is a recessed sensor for a window.
I am working on spec'ing a new security / automation system for our new home. My first time doing so. So trying to wrap my head around the myriad options in terms of control panel options, sensors etc. Our system will be centrally monitored. It seems like this panel and the 2gig gc3 are two options. One thing we noticed straight away is the surface mount contact sensors appear to very clunky looking. And with many many windows on our first floor are concerned the install would look ridiculous with the window contacts everywhere. We'll have motion as well but want the contacts for when we're home. Is there a six series wireless recessed window sensor? Recommendations along these lines?

Okay, then you should be good with just the new Lyric controller. All of your wireless sensors will enroll to the Lyric and it has a built-in WIFI and ZWAVE module. If you have any wireless keypads or sirens not, they will need to be replaced with SiX versions instead.
It looks like it must be pretty short, as the transformer is directly adjacent to the panel.
Depending on how far the wire run is between your LYNX-R and the outlet for the power supply, you may need to run a new wire as the Lyric has strict length/gauge limits. How far is your current run?

You could get the Gold plan for central station and Total Connect 2.0 service using the cellular module. The Platinum plan would only be needed if you want to access Honeywell IPCAMs from your TC2 account.

Well the Lyric Controller is firmware upgradeable so yes there are firmware updates available, fairly regularly. With that said, the cellular communicator is a module that slides into the side of the panel. Right now, there is just a Verizon CDMA and AT&T 3G. I imagine they will release an LTE version at some point which can be swapped in. So the Lyric runs on the same TC 2.0 app for remote access and alerts. There is a unique local app (when on local WIFI network) called "my home controller." This is designed for tablets used as keypads for the most part. However you will be using Total Connect 2.0 most of the time with your iOS an droid phones.
Two quick questions, will it be possible to upgrade the Lyric when 3g fades away and LTE is the norm? And do the Lyric iOS and Android apps offer the same alarm system control as the Total Connect app? Thanks
No, the Lyric doesn't work with a wired siren. You'd have to use the wireless SiXSIREN if you want extra sirens for the system.
Can the Lyric use a WAVE2 wired siren, or just wireless?
The Lyric has a built-in Z-Wave controller making it compatible with nearly any Z-Wave thermostats but as far as we know, there are no plans to unlock support for other brands WIFI thermostats.

The Lyric won't integrate with the Ecboee3 thermostat unfortunately. It only works with Z-Wave thermostats and the WIFI Lyric thermostat. You could of course, continue to use the Ecobee3 app for the thermostat and still install a Lyric security system though.
I am interested in purchasing a Lyric Controller panel along with numerous home security sensors, keypads and pretty much all I need for a complete home security system. The only concern I have keeping me from pulling the trigger is my Ecobee3 thermostat. Can I use the sensors from my L7000 with the new panel?
The unit is supervised every 24 hours if you have a central station plan with us so if someone did disable the WIFI and cellular communications before breaking in, the local alarm would sound and we wouldn't receive anything potentially. We are talking about a pretty sophisticated intruder if they have the equipment to jam WIFI and cellular connectivity though. Also, he would have to know that you don't have a phone line as well if he was jamming WIFI and GSM, otherwise your system could have a phone connection to send the signals out. As we like to say "alarm systems aren't meant to keep James Bond out".
Then if the intruder jams both the WiFi and cellular signals in the house, all I will get is the alarm from the central office that the Lyric panel is offline. Should that be a concern?
No, the Lyric doesn't support a wired Ethernet connection.

The Lyric supports 2.4GHz WIFI and Z-wave. There are no modules required. This hardware is integrated into the Lyric itself.
The Honeywell Lyric site (http://www.lyricsecuritytoolkit.com) says the Lyric includes on-board Wi-Fi or Z-Wave. Is it one or the other? Can the Lyric support both?
The picture of the LT-CABLE is out of date. It now consists of two pieces and the cabling is white. One piece has the two spade connectors for the transformer and on the other end has a female barrel plug connector. The other piece is a short wire with a red and black pig tail with soldered wire to connect to the internal screw terminals of a panel and the other end has the male barrel plug connector so that it works with nearly any system.
I kind of figured after the fact that Honeywell is expecting it to be professionally installed. Thanks for the rapid response! I'm going to head out to Lowe's to pick up wire but just for my future reference, I see the LT-CABLE is intended for the LYNX - would we just cut off the adapter end and install into the Lyric panel? Unfortunately, Honeywell expects the panel to be installed by an installer who would have their own wire so it doesn't come with a wire. We offer the LT-CABLE (https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-lt-cable ) which you could use but you can certainly supply your own 2-conductor wire as well. Home Depot or Lowe's typically sells wire that you can have them cut to length. Make sure you don't exceed the wire length/gauge requirements spelled out in the installation guide.
I just received my Lyric and noticed it doesn't come with a wire between the Controller and transformer. Am I supposed to provide that myself or is my kit missing something?

The easy way to know if it's compatible or not is whether or not it's listed as a Honeywell AlarmNet camera with a part number starting with 'IPCAM'. They have special firmware on those cameras that make them work with the panel. No other cameras will work.
I'm trying to get clarity on what it considers compatible; from a technical perspective. For example; vendors have mac addresses that start with a certain sequence that identifies them as a vendor. Is that what its looking for? Does it expect a certain port to be open for the video stream? If so, what port is it? I have cameras from ubiquiti that themselves aren't standards based but the controller allows you to re-stream feeds. I hope to perhaps present a different mac address or use an alternate port to trick the lyric panel into recognizing them. I am reluctant to invest in honeywell ip cameras as the value just isn't there.
Per Honewell's site, it seems that the weather won't work on the Lyric unless you have the panel active with a monitoring company. "The panel can provide either a one day or a five day local weather forecast in the U.S. and Canada as soon as the AlarmNet Communicator is active. One day forecast The one day forecast is an automatic feature available at no additional cost when an AlarmNet Communicator is actively communicating with AlarmNet’s servers. The panel fetches the forecast immediately upon boot up (if the location has been previously entered) or as soon as the Zip Code is entered/updated on the Location Screen. From there it follows a normal schedule as follows: WiFi or IP communicator - the weather updates every 4 hours during the 3, 7, 11 am/pm hours (local time) with the minutes randomized. If Wifi fails with Cellular as backup the panel continues its 4 hour weather update schedule. Cellular communication only - weather updates twice a day at 12 am/pm local time. Five day forecast The five day weather forecast is available on the panel when Information Service (Basic or Enhanced) is added to the TotalConnect 2.0 account (additional charges may apply). The location must be input into the panel by performing a TC2 Panel Sync after the location information is entered into the “location” module on the TotalConnect website or tablet app. The panel fetches the forecast immediately upon boot up (if the location has been previously configured as described above). From there it follows a normal schedule as follows: WiFi or IP communicator - the weather updates every 4 hours during the 3, 7, 11 am/pm hours (local time) with the minutes randomized. If IP fails with Cellular as backup the panel continues its 4 hour weather update schedule. Cellular communication only - weather updates twice a day according to the local times established in TotalConnect 2.0 website/app “Configure Information Services” screen (default is 8AM and Noon)."
Yes, we hope Honeywell updates their IPCAM offerings as well. During the scan, it's looking for MACs on the network of compatible IPCAMs that are connected to the same network as the panel.
No its not being monitored at this time. I found a post, i thought by you, that covered how to get the weather to display when you don't have service. It talked about how the state and country needed to be entered in a particular way. It was for an older security panel though but the steps appeared to sync with lyrics. I'll try to track down that post.
That's disappointing as honeywell IP cameras are just bad. Really bad. Any idea what its looking for during its scan? A particular mac address prefix? TCP ports? Protocols?

The Lyric only works with AlarmNet IPCAMs and you need to have the IPCAMs connected to the same network as the Lyric to view them from the Lyric touchscreen. If you are using IPCAMs, you just have to scan and the MAC of the IPCAM will be displayed if it is the proper camera on the same network as the system.
The tuxedo touch has an option to manually add camera details if not found during a scan. Is this possible on the lyric?

Basically, all the IP-CAM's made by Honeywell (IPCAM-PT, IPCAM-WO, IPCAM-WI, IPCAM-WI2, IPCAM-WL, and presumably the ACU) are compatible for viewing via the Lyric display.

The Lyric does support the secondary controller feature like the Tuxedo Touch does so if that's the feature you are using to integrate with Vera on your VISTA panel, I'd imagine you could do all of what you are doing now with the Lyric.
We use motion detectors to trigger scenes. We also have all of our downstairs lights and home theater gear turn off when we put the alarm in Night-Stay mode. We enjoy the versatility of using Vera as our primary controller and its open architecture to integrate with a lot of third party systems (our security NVR, irrigation systems, blinds, etc). Do you know if the Lyric will function as a secondary controller?

We haven't heard of any API integration from a Lyric into another 3rd party system. How are you integrated into the Vera now?
Is there/will there be an API or any other methods of integration with other home automation products? I'm currently using Vera (zwave) for my automation controller. I currently have tight integration with Vera and my Vista 21IP. Thank you!
When will you be carrying the LCP500-DK desk stand for the Lyric Controller? I just ordered a Lyric and didn't realize that it didn't come with the stand.
There is a built in WIFI communicator that supports most 2.4GHz WIFI routers. You can also use cellular communications to avoid any interruptions with your monitoring service in the even of WIFI failures. You can choose between the Lyric-3G ( AT&T - https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-lyric-3g ) and the Lyric-CDMA ( Verizon - https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-lyric-cdma ). There is no phone line option on the Lyric.
Does the Lyric come with the capability for VOIP monitoring? Or do you have to use a cellular module for monitoring?
No, the Lyric is not compatible with the bi-directional 5800 devices so it won't work with your 5828V. The LKP500 is the Lyric keypad option.

We've fond Yale locks work better then Schlage with the LYNX Touch systems. We haven't experimented with locks enough on the Lyric to know if it will be any different. We also haven't used the August locks but you can certainly setup a Z-Wave lock to disarm the system once a valid code is entered to unlock the lock.
Is there a benefit to use one vs the other Z-wave Schlage or Yale door lock? Also with the August smart lock & keypad is there a way to disarm the system by entering the door unlock code via the keypad?
Also, will it work with my 5828V remote keypad? Thanks!
With the new Lyric controller, is your monitoring center now able to conduct two way voice monitoring like my old monitoring company?

Are we safe to assume that we've got an official release? Will there be a package similar to the L7000 (motion sensor + 3 door contacts, etc.)?
No, it only supports Honeywell 5800 Series and SiX Series wireless sensors.
We haven't heard full details on HomeKit integration yet but we do expect it to be able to be used with a HomeKit controller.
Does the Lyric support the GE/Interlogix Crystal Wireless sensors?

Yes, they are very similar systems. One difference is with the Honeywell Lyric, you have the option to do your monitoring through the WIFI connection with no cellular for a reduced rate. We do always encourage cellular for anyone getting monitoring but some people like the less expensive option of doing IP only monitoring and that's not available with 2Gig/Alarm.com. Also, it's hard to argue with Honeywell's track record of reliable manufacturing but so far 2Gig has done a great job as well.
Thanks, Sterling - in terms of product features, these two systems seem to be pretty much like-for-like. My main concern is one manufacturer has years of experience with the other being fairly new to the game. Based your knowledge, what is your experience with satisfaction and longevity of reliability and support?
We expect to have it available sometime this month or next. The Lyric encrypted sensors will be released when the system is launched while the GC3 encrypted sensors aren't expected out until Q3 or Q4 of this year.
Any release date from Honeywell? Making a comparison between the 2GIG GC3 and the Lyric system and would really like to see the options available when Honeywell shows what will be included in the package
If you don't add cellular to the system, you can choose the Bronze or Silver plans. Gold or higher would be needed if you choose to add the cellular back up. We don't yet have any information on pricing for Lyric products but we'll post it online as soon as we know.
In order to use this panel and do monitoring it would have to Gold Plan or Higher? is that correct? Also do you have an estimate on the cost of the cell cards for this Panel?

The Lyric will be backward compatible with the Honeywell 5800C2W (https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-5800c2w ). This is a 9 wired zone translator module. Backup battery is not included. We recommend the Ultratech 1240 or 1270.
What device will allow you to connect existing wired sensors to the lyric system?
The Lyric would replace the LYNXR-1 since they are both self-contained wireless alarm systems.
Work on a LYNXR-l system?
Yes, the Lyric will work with any 5800 Series devices, including the 5818MNL (https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-5818mnl ) but any 5800 Series devices would not be encrypted to the Lyric.
Would this unit work with Honeywell's recessed wireless door and window transmitters, such as this the 5818MNL?
We expect it to be available by the end of March or beginning of April.
Dang...I looking to upgrade my Vista to wireless. I didn't want to pull the trigger on a L7000 kit with the Lyric so close to being released.
Because it's not available for sale yet. We're hoping it will be available by the end of March or beginning of April and then we'll remove the "discontinued" label.
